Had the pleasure of watching him play several times in high school. He made playing football look so easy. He's without a doubt the greatest high school football player I ever watched in person.

Had Fournette played for 4 years he would have absolutely shattered the stats that Faulk put up.

Also the all-time SEC leader in all-purpose yards.

Maybe someone can confirm how many different ways he scored TDs:
Receiving
Rushing
Punt return
KO return
Passing?

Need to mention LSU has 2 NFL Hall of Fame Running Backs: Jim Taylor and Steve Van Buren. Faulk was all that, but in a historic sense those 2 were better. Even Cannon won an AFL MVP in the Pros.

My favorite RB growing up. Remember reading the newspaper when he stayed his senior year. My father got him to sign something in Shreveport when they praticed for the indy bowl. I remember KF's manners, yes sir, thank you sir, here you go sir. Always will be the GOAT to me

You spelled Cecil Collins wrong.

Wish they would have let Trindon play some offense but he was too valuable at DE.

I think Cecil Collins WOULD HAVE been the best if he had been with theteam 3 or 4 years. It is nuce to see that Cecil's life is such a blessing to others now.

It’s not really close

We have 3 4,000 yard rushers so I think a nod to Charles the Great and Dalton Hillard seems in order. Not sure any other schools has 3 with 4,0000

If there was an "All Purpose" (or return man equivalent) Heisman, Faulk might have won it, or certainly been in the final 3 - twice.

He is almost certainly the greatest LSU back or end who never won a major CFB national award.

But more than the LSU Hall of Fame career (for the SEC he is #4 career rusher, #4 rushing TDs, #4 in yards from scrimmage, #3 in total TDs, and is almost certainly the best all around return man in SEC history), his commitment to LSU made history. Throughout the collapse of the post Mac football program, despite the occasional bright spots, LSU fans were used to Louisiana's best players heading East, occasionally North or West. Especially great RBs.

Faulk, with a simple act of staying close to home, changed that overnight. The rebuilding project that Saban gets 100% of the credit for was about 50 to 60 percent done by Gerry Dinardo and the single biggest piece of that was Kevin Faulk (and no disrespect to Faneca, either). The Bradie James and Trev Faulks (exactly) are not here for Saban.

And if Saban had not been successful, these past 20 years would not have been nearly as good for the Purple and Gold, IMHO.

A well thought out post.

Have not been able to find it, but the press conference Kevin gave when he decided to return for his senior year was Tebow-ish. Another reason to love Kevin, he played all four years when easily could've bolted for the NFL after his junior season.

Not to mention he had a kid already and still came back.

He is the GOAT in my book and he bought my house when he moved back to BR and signed my SI with him on the cover at closing!

What Fournette did his sophomore year was one of the best single seasons at RB LSU probably has ever had. His other 2 years weren't quite as good as Faulk's last 3 years at LSU.

It's funny that Fournette's sophomore year, he was only the third best running back in the country arguably. Right behind 2 other legends in Derrick Henry and Christian McCaffrey.
Edit: I personally would have Fournette right behind Henry in 2015 but Heisman voting had McCaffrey ahead of Fournette so take that how you will.
Edit 2: Ezekiel Elliott also played that year in 2015.
