In soccer, when a current or past player/coach/club legend passed away, the crowd salutes that individual by giving a standing ovation at a predetermined time in the game. Since Wayde was #44, we wouldn’t be able to salute him in minute 44, but what if the crowd cheered for him when the Tigers reach 44 points? Or something else like that?

I know the season is still a month away, but would anyone else be interested in participating in an in-game tribute like this? All input and other ideas are welcome.

What if they don’t hit 44 and go straight to 45 or 46?

I suspect in LSU's first game they will only send 4 players out for the tip. Once it's tipped, if LSU gets the ball Wade will call TO and send in the 5th man (likely Mays...Sims's HS teammate). If the opponent wins the ball, they will likely give it to LSU to call TO.

This should be addressed prior to the Ole Miss game starting with a moment of silence from everyone for prayer, reflection or respect for the family of Wayde Sims. Maybe the first thing done before the National Anthem or music to pump everyone up. It would be a classy thing to do for Wayde and his family and not detract from the crowd getting ready for the kickoff. R.I.P. Wayde! Just my 2 cents.....

The tribute would happen once 44 points are scored, even if the scoreboard jumps from 43 to 47, etc.

But feel free to share any other suggestions.

Wonder if we will see anything with Tory Carter's #44. Let Brosette wear it or something as a fellow UHigh guy.

I’m sure a patch on the jerseys are in order. I like the 4 man to start. But I do think each game maybe a video. Hell we have a game played every year. It’s so different from cannon. He lived a full life and Sims was cut all to short.

They'll probably come out on the court with 4 players the start of the first game. Its a Classic sign of respect.
