No..... those years r over. I refused to believe it at first but 2011 killed our once dominant incredible program. You'll never be able to take that decade of dominance from us however!!!

Virtually any one is better than your beloved Les Miles. Which is why Miles can't find anyone dumb enough to hire him.

Did you have it with Les. Who out there would have given you that feeling?

when Clemson hired Dabo they hadn't hadn't won a conference title since 1991 and they had zero top 20 finishes since 2000.

I have never "expected" championships. regardless of what the media or the fans say, you are never entitled to a championship. you have to be damn near perfect all season long and still have a lot of good luck at the right times to be a champion.

if you are asking whether my expectations of the team's general performance are as high this year as they have been in the past, the answer is no. we fired our whole coaching staff last year and it generally takes a year or two to put things back together when that happens.

I really have no idea whether O can provide a level of success that our past couple of coaches have been able to maintain...but I just finished renewing my tickets.

under miles we ran plays out of more formations than every single spread team.

you do realize that all those spreads teams run a far less variety of plays than us right? chip Kelly's entire playbook consists of 4 running plays.

because he is 63.

what does your above logic say about Ed Orgeron? 29 of his 32 years in coaching no one even wanted him as a coordinator.

Or perhaps, because Miles is 63, and has already accomplished everything he's wanted to in his career.

National title, multiple SEC titles, overall record of 141–55, LSU record of 114–34.
Multiple wins vs Nick Saban at Alabama, Urban Miles at Fla.
Even outside of the national title and 2nd appearance, led LSU to a couple of it's biggest bowl wins in history: 40-3 over Miami (who was ranked higher than LSU going in) in the Peach, 41-14 over Notre Dame in the Sugar.

He was probably coasting towards retirement anyway. His general demeanor never seemed to suggest that football was his driving purpose in life, and his youngest kid had just left high school and was in college elsewhere.

If you look at the various milestones, I think the only thing still in reach would be 150 wins (he needed 9 more wins). I really think he was just hanging around to get that here, and then retire.

When he got fired, I'm pretty sure he just called it a day, and is simply going through the required motions to earn his buyout. I can't fault that in theory. I'd go interview a few places and ask for 10 mil a year too, if I could get a couple extra mil for my retirement; and after the way Alleva and LSU yanked him around the last six games of his career (going back to the end of the '15 season), I'm sure there's little love lost for Alleva or remorse over playing the system for the buyout.

O must find a way to recruit in the same level as Alabama. Not one time since 2007 has LSU had more raw talent on our team than Alabama had in that year. The bammers have more talent at every position, they are always deeper than we are especially on both lines.

That being said, I will be at all the games believing we will win. That's what fans do.

Expectations are LSU competing for championships in all sports, including football this year.

LSU fired a coach who averaged 10 wins a year. That is the lowest expectation I will accept. Last year's 9-4 after the bowl was unacceptable. That's why some of us weren't happy with the hire.

So Yes, championships are the expectation. Anyone saying otherwise is trying to protect Coach O, football wise

it's clear there is a portion of lsu posters on here that are ok losing 3-4 games a year as long as they like the coach.

I've seen posters say Miles left 0 a steaming pile of mess talent wise.

Les Miles had more kickers on scholarships than middle LBs. Yet now you're worried about recruiting...

LSU will be a monster this year under these coaches

No, I don't get that feeling anymore.

Never "expected" one, although it did feel like we were building up towards one early in Miles' career... and it came in year 3.
But I did enter most years with a lot of hope.

The past 4-5 years, I "expected" Alabama to win, and I still do. In the past I hoped we would beat them, and I thought we could. I don't really have that hope right now.

I do think we'll have a very good team in '17, but I fear a decline in the program now. I think Aranda is on the way out, and don't think we'll find someone else as good. Probably lose Canada after the current crop of QBs leave.

I'm all in on this year.

If it doesn't happen now, then I fear it may be a while...

Hope like hell I'm wrong about that last part.

agreed. I lost my excitement several years ago, and I'm no more excited about this year than the last several. I don't have high hopes about the Oregeron experiment.

You're really denigrating the program when saying anyone is better.
Either you're an idiot, or all past/future coaches that failed to oust him from #1 LSU FB win % suck.
Which is it?

No it's not. Maybe that's the reason between what we did and 10-3. But the reason Bama is dominating us is because they have better players - much better. We match Bama at the skilled positions, but they own us on the offensive and defensive lines.

Go watch last years game; their defensive line absolutely mauls our offensive line. And while last year our defensive line got the best of their oline, most of the last few years they have put it on our defensive line.

This is the reason the rest of the nation looked on in amazement as we fired Miles.

He was a 10-win a year coach, and we ended up deeming it unacceptable that he not run a better program than Alabama... who happens to be on an alltime tear.
