The fact basketball has four recent statues put up and baseball and football have only one is laughable

Basketball hasn't won anything of significance

Into what?

Her last team that she coached before she got ill went to the Final Four, as did the four teams that followed.

Who are they honestly appeasing here? What small section of the fan base is upset that Dale's name is on the court and Sue's isn't? Upset enough to be able to cause enough noise to get it changed? This is a virtue signal. That's all. It actually has the opposite effect. It cheapens the honor in the eyes of more of the fan base. It causes more of the fan base to look into and then criticize/disparage Gunter's accomplishments because they do not live up to the standard that naming a court should be. She has a statue. That should appease the 13 or so people who truly care enough.

Why are we renaming a court to include non champions?

That last team was coached by Pokey. She coached the final 20 games and the post season. Gunter never made a final four. The better argument is that Pokey built women's basketball here. And deep down you know it's the truth.

Agreed. Im not a fan of either having their name on the court, but if you put one, the other deserves it just as much

I hope Mulkey wins a title just so she can have her name on the court or make a very good argument about it. What a joke.

Is being the 2nd best womens bball coach really deserving of naming the court after? Mulkey's probably going to outdo both of them this season. Maybe thats why theyre trying to ram this through now.

What is the rush at LSU to name buildings and build statues the last few years? Its all recency bias with no long term thinking. Stop the insanity.

Are we supposed to name the court for every coach who built a “viable program”?

Smoke Laval accomplished almost as much as Sue Gunter (minus total wins). In fact he went to two CWS (final fours). Let’s name the bullpens after Smoke!

Step back from the emotional side here and think about that.

1. What statues and naming honors do we have elsewhere for people who simply made a program viable?

2. Do you think without Sue Gunter that a school like LSU would eventually become viable?

We shouldn't be having this convo. Like I said in another post - this move has the opposite effect. It causes people to trash Gunter which I don't want to do, but she did nothing to deserve having the court named after her.

No, but you already set the precedent with Dale Brown.

Dale a brown failing to win a championship with Shaq, Chris Jackson, and Stanley Roberts on the same team is a crime

Slap in the face to Dale just to be woke. Typical LSU BOS crap.

Gunter-Brown Court is perfect for LSU basketball. Pretty good, but will never be elite even though the potential is there.

Yeah, I wouldn’t have named the court after him either
