They should be OK

LSU's defense has been less than perfect, but they have risen to the occasion in every game so far. They have had a lot of ups and downs, but the've been tough when they've had to be.

I expect the same kind of performance against Alabama.

It actually is a solid pro-style offense. To say that the Tide are not imaginative is just wrong. But they will lean more on the run when they have a QB like Coker who will shite the bed if you don't regulate him.

just as A&M should have an advantage with John Chavis' understanding LSU's offensive tendencies.

I don't think LSUs "offensive tendencies" are a mystery to anyone.

IMO Steele's impact is in favor of AL unless he gets the DB organized before we play them. There were about twice as many WR open in the WKY game than there were the entire 2014 season.

Playing down to competition. But you are right. There have been too many breakdowns in the defensive backfield. We did not see a lot of this under Chavis. But having seen Steele call a D on the last drive of a game (read last week's UF game) I have more confidence that he would know how to shut down Bama in a similar situation than anytime Chavis would.

Steele will have the same advantages Chavis will have...they really know strengths and weaknesses of personnel...The bye weeks will be used to internally game plan against tendencies and add wrinkles to formation commonly shown on game film..

Let's compare:
Passing - LSU
Rushing - LSU
OLine - LSU

DLine - Bama
LB's - LSU
DB's - LSU

Special Teams - Bama

I would actually say it's more like:

Offense - LSU
Defense - Bama
Special teams - Bama (but they both suck)

I'm curious to see how Kevin Steele's knowledge of facing a Lane Kiffin offense will play out in two weeks

I would think Steele knows the tendencies of just about every player on Bama's roster, but is he smart enough to exploit them?

So maybe? Idk, there's so much film these days, I'd say there's not too much there. Kiffin/Saban also know Steele's tendencies as well. There'll be no shortage of preparation and the game will likely be called based on what the opposing side is showing. Just my take.

Unlike Miles, Saban and Kiffin will change up their game plan!

I think the average high school coordinator has knowledge of LSU's offense.......

The ESPN guy, I think it was Marcus Spears, said that BHarris is really maturing in the QB position and is now marrying the passing game and the running game which is an extremely important factor in offensive production.

His explanation of the term "marrying the offense and defense" was that BH threw 7 play action passes in the WKU game and completed 4 for 152 yards. My interpretation of his comments were that the two elements (running and passing) of the offense are now feeding off each other, creating synergy which makes the offense much greater than the two elements can reach operating separately. If that scenario exists in the 'Bama game, LSU has the possibility of competing favorably with the Tide.

You are probably a great deal smarter than I am and probably know more than MSpears, but what he said made sense and gave me a new comfort level.

"Knowledge of" and being able to stop an offense are two separate issues.

My assessment of the discussion was that the coaches are developing BH in a productive manner. Zero interceptions and many more positive decisions than negative decisions.

I never thought our offense would be this productive. Four RBs with positive yardage, two freshman FBs positively contributing, three different WRs with TD catches, TE involvement, and an OL that is successful in both run and pass protection . I am too elated to be critical.

Steele will have a bit of a chip on his shoulder and the players will be amped up. I believe Miles has been holding back waiting for Bama to show some new wrinkles.

Also Chavis struggled mightily against power run teams, so we will skull drag his fat arse and A&M again this year.
