IMO Burrow's legs should be more integrated into the offense

His running ability has been an over looked part of his game and I think it's been a bit under utilized as a concept of the offense. Some weeks we run him, some weeks it's a non-existent factor in the offense.

Burrow has an outside shot at breaking the LSU QB rushing record for a season (Jefferson- 450). He would need another 76 yards to top that number. Still, his 375 rush yards + whatever he picks up in the bowl game is considerable.

Moving into next year, I'd love to see more looks that play off the threat of Joe keeping the ball. Pairing those read options with a burner like Emery could make for some big plays if Joe is willing to keep them more often than this year. But I'd also like to see more RPO's that play off the running game. That was something I can't remember seeing any of this season.

In this video, Matt Wyatt breaks down the mechanics of the RPO's using some Penn State video. In his clips, you see Penn State off the RPO throw a seam to the TE, a QB keep for a first and an option pitch. Under the right circumstances, I could see Burrow as sort of a McSorley type.

O stated after the A&M game that we went away from having Burrow run once Brennan picked up his late season injury. Once Myles was healthy, we went back to running him (A&M game).

some but not a lot with what we have coming in next year. We should have used wildcat more this season but also tried to incorporate a wildcat back who can throw at least a little. People forget Darren Mcfadden used to throw a lot when the wildcat was brought to college.

Burrow has done well when he's run it.

But, if we want to be great, Burrow needs to do a better job (much better) throwing it. We need to be able to attack teams through the air. His running ability can never be more than Lagniappe.

That would be pretty painful for Burrow.

I mean, he's run for almost 400 yards. That's not bad for him IMO.

Burrow's running made a difference and he was allowed to start making his own calls at some point. If Burrow had not been a RPO Dual-Threat QB the season would have likely been less successful.

He was a key factor vs GA with 2 Rushing TDs added to Tracy's 5 FGS, and the TAMU game would not have turned into an historic marathon event. He was the leading Rusher and scored 3 Rushing TDs and had 3 Passing TDs.

RPO DTQBs add an 11th Gap and stretch the D, enable you to move the pocket. Those are the type teams we have to beat and I cannot see why you would ever give up that option. Pro Style puts so much more emphasis on the OL, WRs, etc.

It will be interesting to see how Clemson does. Tajh Boyd, Watson, and Bryant got them there.

You mean that plays designed as read options where the QB actually has a read are more effective?

Color me shocked.

You mean passes to the TE affects the LBs ability to play the run? GTFO

You mean we wait to show these things w 2 games left in the season?

NO EFFIN WAY

Yeah, we feel real good about our backup QB, and yeah, we’re not obvious about it.

I've thought this for a while, which is also why I think that it is imperative to get Peter Parrish up to snuff at passing the ball. This guy could be dangerous as a redshirt freshman/sophomore.

They probably would have more this year if not for trying to make sure to secure Brennans redshirt and no QB behind him either.

They weren’t doing that with really only one backup QB who was supposedly hurt and who they obviously wanted to redshirt
