The stadium was pretty damn alive last week vs bama, and that was a 2:30

I was there, and although it was loud in the fourth quarter, it couldn't have held a candle to a 7 pm game.

I couldn't remember if it was 16 or 17.
I think the fast pace of football might have passed him by (Keith Jackson).

I'm more sick of the obscene number of commercial timeouts during CBS broadcasts. THe guy with the red hat on spends enough time on the field that he should have his own page in the gameday program.

Well we need to revise the contract and put in a "night game clause" if they don't take it espn, espn2, or espn3 will definately play our night games.... Last week every game was boring after the big day games

Jeez, some of you people are dense. The issue isn't whether we give up all afternoon games, or break the SEC contract with CBS, or tailgating. The poster wants to know if there is any way for us to use our clout to obtain an option we can exercise to refuse a time change for an important game or two each season when we want to play at night. I suspect many of you don't appreciate the feeling of Tiger Stadium jacked up for a night game, but it is awesome and intimidating to opponents. We need to go back to the SEC and CBS and let them know that if they want us to play nice we need that option. They can put on Kentucky at Vanderbilt at 2:30 if they want.

We were forced to give up white jerseys at home a few years ago. Now we're being forced to give up our night game advantage for the sake of tv revenue. What's next--change our mascot to accommodate Auburn? Disband the Golden Girls? Stop eating grass? Where does it stop?

Spoiled fans.

Most schools would kill for this exposure.

the whole 230 national tv argument is garbage. the 6pm ESPN game is on national tv.

When you get that 11:00 kick each week like certain programs, then things are not good.

This.

Here in GA, they have had 5 home games (all times Eastern, so imagine an hour earlier in LA):

12:00pm
12:21pm
12:21pm
12:21pm
12:30pm

They made some tailgating changes after the LSU game last year left the campus a huge mess. Their AD is on the record as saying something to the effect of "the changes are effective, but we won't really know how effective they are until we get better as a team so we don't have to keep playing at noon."

I'll take 2:30 over that bullshite 11am slot ANY DAY.

It's called tradition... And it didn't happen this year

Isn't there a delay between the two? I believe the TV broadcast is about 4-5 seconds ahead of the radio so that won't work.

That is true.

It also competes with a lot more games. The ratings for 2:30 CBS games are traditionally higher as it is promoted as the top billed game each week. Sure, tons of LSU fans will watch, but it's not nearly as watched at 6pm as it is at 2:30.

THAT BEING SAID, for people going to the game, night is so much more fun.

Dense?? Look in a mirror.

#1 LSU is in the SEC

#2 The SEC has a TV contract with CBS that generates a ton of revenue.

#3 In order to receive our slice of the revenue, LSU must comply with the terms of the contract.

#4 If CBS says we play at 2:30, we play at 2:30

#5 Simple enough??

This is bad. They go to commercial more than ESPN.

Only problem is the time delay between the two.

Yeah, that's simple. What are you, 12? Have you ever read anything more complex than Harry Potter?

Let me see if I can simplify it for you. Contracts are agreements. They can be RENEGOTIATED (look it up). This is done daily when a party gains an advantage or has an important issue that makes the terms of the contract unfair or not mutually beneficial. LSU has The Most Interesting Coach in the World and a huge fan base, which is why CBS wants to put it at 2:30 for any game with a pulse so CBS can make money from the broadcast. That's fine--we need to do it--but our number one priority is to field a winning team with a shot at a championship. We also have a TRADITION here that is really important to our football program's identity and our fans--NIGHT FOOTBALL. All of those facts mean we should EXPLORE how we can regain some measure of control over when our games are played.

Simple enough?
