Only thing that bothers me about Verne is: he can't seem to be able to say "LSU." He has to say "Louisiana State University." WTF is up with that?

I actually liked that when he said Louisiana State university this weekednd. I think people forget what that L stands for.

At least he doesn't say University of LSU.

It didn't work out too well this year, but remember that LSU didn't play any day games last year. Hopefully they'll get the CBS Primetime game next year.

Nice point about the Daylight Savings. That was just the pick me up I needed after realizing I'd have to listen to Vern call Kadron Boone Quincy Boone, Spencer Ware Scott Ware, etc...

What about calling Kelvin Shepard Russell Shepard. He did that like 2 times this year.

Turn off the TV volume and listen to Jim Hawthorne call the game, which may cause you to turn back on the TV volume.

Isn't there a delay between the two? I believe the TV broadcast is about 4-5 seconds ahead of the radio so that won't work.

Who decided that 2:30 central was the optimum time for "big games" to be played? I would much rather watch the more significant games each weak played in a prime time slot like 4:30pm or 6pm. I'm sure there has to be something tied to ratings or whatever, but as a fan it seems to carry more weight in that time slot. I.E. the Saints/Steelers prime time matchup Halloween night. If that game was at 2:30 would have been just meh.

You want the SEC, thus the 12 members, to give up a huge contract just to play at night?

Leave the SEC for CUSA and have a consistantly irrelevent program.

I get the love for night games, but honestly, bitching about "having" to play on national network TV multiple times a year is just pathetic and makes our fans sound like spoiled children.

I'd love to see national Neilson Ratings on CBS' afternoon games versus the night games they decide to air. Does viewership drop off that much to make televising a night game so unattractice to them?

Need a ton of purple game day shirts with gold lettering that reads "2:30 Sucks" and then let CBS get some crowd shots of them during the game.

Yeah great idea, oppenly descent about playing against top competion on national network TV, as if it's a burden. It's a problem every team not named Notre Dame would love to have.

Agreed. He has dropping fast. I used to cut him some slack, cause I'm sure it's not easy, but enough is enough. He also kept calling #4 Mark Barron Marquis Maze. And he's calling catches that are incomplete. Great voice, but I think its time to stick to the 17th hole at the Masters.

The networks look at the country as a whole. College football is obviously huge in the south, but not necessarily througout the entire nation, especially in the large cities. 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon is probably the optimal time, as many people go out to eat, to movies, bars, etc. on Saturday nights. A Sunday night NFL game is different, most people are at home because they have to go to work the next day.

This.

To the idiot earlier saying we want a night game to enjoy our precious tailgaiting: You have probably never attended an LSU night game. It is not just about extra tailgaiting, the stadium comes alive. There will be just as much national appeal for a 6 or 7 pm game as a 2:30 game.
