I suppose the story is possible, but extremely hard to believe. I've never had trouble in Atlanta or Athens with my LSU gear, my Car with LSU window stickers, ect ect.
I've never even had a Georgia fan be confrontational in a playful way. Really, they are standoffish for the most part. I've had more sports discussions sparked with other SEC fans around here, Gators, Aubies and Sabanettes.

If you could somehow prove he said the thing about the LSU hat, I'd say you'd be well on your way to winning a lawsuit.
That shows he was pissed off about something and could've gotten out of control.

Ive been to athens multiple times too, as well as 04 when they kicked are arse. I had no problems, and I was ribbing them as good as any pregame and all took it in stride.
So, I think there is definitely more to this than your are saying/ know about. Honestly, the guy gets locked up and abused for "reckless driving." I doubt it, but anything is possible.

he is telling the truth everyone! I was arrested in Athens for the same thing, almost. They said that i wasn't jamming widespread panic loud enough and they brought me to the pokey.

i go to Athens often. more often than not i wear some LSU gear. not once has anyone ever f'd with me.

Hell, they arrest the UGA players all the time, why not give an out-of-towner some time in the pokey?
I have heard commentary at LSU/UGA football games, but nothing out of the ordinary. I do recall a huge UGA fan blindsiding/coldcocking a tiny LSU fan in the face in the pit area outside the GA Dome prior to the last LSU/UGA CG, it was unbelievably bad. Also recall a UGA fan making an arse of himself at the SECCG by screaming racial comments at a UF fan walking up the aisle, it was just pitiful, and UF wasn't even playing in the game. Not saying things don't happen elsewhere, but I keep an eye out around those folks.
