You make some excellent points. Thank you for being one of the few in this thread that's actually willing to have a true back and forth.

Here is my thing tho. Who DIDN'T know or hear curse words growing up. I heard that shite every day! At home and at school. You aren't protecting anyone. Its 2020. The kids have heard and seen more than you can believe. Two less curse words at a damn football game isn't going to make one difference.

Just trying not to be a stupid frick. LOL

When I hear or read the phrase, "I'm offended by....."
I stop listening (or reading) and just try to control myself from saying, "frick off".
AT LEAST, come up with a different word/phrase besides
"I'm offended by". Its weak as frick. It's just not a good look, at least not for a man.
- - - Tommorrow's class, we will discuss the next trigger word/phrase: "that's racist"

This isn't the same thing as being a somewhat mass-yelled set of curse words. A child could be led to believe that they are fine since half of the stadium yelled them at a public event. Is this how we want youngsters to remember their first-ever visit to Tiger Stadium? Is this chant so important that you can't enjoy a game without insulting and offending fellow fans? Join your fellow fans and yell ACCEPTABLE slogans at the opponent. If you do this, ALL LSU FANS would join in. Imagine how loud that would be! C'mon, you can do it. Find another effective, smart, cutting-edge chant to yell so we can all join in. The kids will yell it too.

I want to thank you for making me aware of the markup and function shite. I'm gonna be a bad-arse poster from now on! Give me a grade, OK?

I'm neutral on this arguement, dont have kids, and the chant doesnt enhance or take away from my game experience.
I've been a season ticket holder in section 209 - the lower bottom corner of the NE Endzone just about my entire life. I say that because its proximity to the Student Section and band are somewhat important to my point.
Every single time that I brought a newcomer to a game with me and Neck was played, they asked, "what did they say"?
I'm basically just a few sections over from where the chant originates and most first timers or newcomers can't make out the words. I would imagine, the further away you get, the more difficult it is to put it together.
I just wonder, is the issue about kids or newcomers hearing the student section chanting a few curse words?
Or, is it really more of a helicopter parent issue?

To anyone singing the words at a game:
Are you good with a video of you singing this childish stuff posted on social media for your boss and company to see?

Rational adults understand that thousands of students chanting obscenities in unison in a stadium of 100,000 is a very bad idea.

Problem is there are plenty of posters here that are “adults” and aren’t students that are defending it.

I wouldn't care if I was saying it. I'm on my own time and not representing the company. It's none of their business what I'm doing.

It's a little bit of all of that. Tiger Stadium deserves to be a better atmosphere than your local strip club. The kids deserve better. The kids. Is organized mass vulgarity what we want Tiger Stadium known for? It's a special place that deserves a better reputation than that.

My parents raised me on LSU sports and I attended my first game before my first birthday in 1975. She's heard it all before. She knows the difference between cursing at a football game and in everyday life. She wouldn't care.
