As many others have already mentioned, most people had more important things to worry about. Probably most of the tailgaters were *not* locals and therefore few in number. People who call BR home were otherwise busy.

Swing by for the Georgia game and you will likely see why Tiger Stadium supposedly ranks even with the world-famous soccer stadiums for atmosphere. I've been to one of those and I have to admit it was definitely world class. But Tiger Stadium facing a major rival is pretty close. Getting ready for a hurricane, probably not so much.

You forgot to mention that is with the teams we don't have a rivalry with because we're being nice.

My electricity just came back on last night so I check the Rant and someone is slagging our effort as fans last Saturday? I won't go into the details but the last few days have been pretty darn physical. Now that I am finished with my generator I drove down the parking lot (I-10) to Baton Rouge to pass it on, along with an extra chainsaw. Last Saturday at 10 a.m., when we are usually eating pancakes, not drinking beer and grilling, we were half into the game and half in the preparations for what we knew was on the way. Sorry it wasn't what you had hoped for. We will try to do better next time.

my idea of a game is not to be in a semi subdued stadium yelling

I guarantee you that you got the worst Tiger Stadium since the current facility was built. Earliest kickoff, hurricane, etc. I wasn't there, but from television, it looks like you got a little bit of the magic on our first couple of offensive drives, but that's it. On any kickoff after 5:00pm, in conference, there's no comparison anywhere.

The use of the word "lame" has put everyone on the defensive, but as one poster said earlier, all pre-game activities were canceled.

I know that you meant the "running out on the field part", but we did the band on the field and the team running out onto the field. We also did the flag raising, but other than that, I'm not sure what you expected?

The traditional game day experience is tailgating, lining up on the hill to watch the team and the band come down it while playing. Then the pregame consists of the anouncements with the video on the scoreboard, the band on the field and Mike the Tiger circling the field in his cage. Then Mike is parked by where the visiting team enters the field and the band lines up for the team to run through the band to enter the field.

There is no rock like Clemson, or Metalica "Enter Sand Man" like VT. It's everything combined in a traditional and classy performance that we all love and look forward to all year.

This year, the first game of the season was pretty lame because of the early start. Half of the crowd wasn't even there until the start of the 2nd quarter and by half time, half the crowd was leaving. When I left at the start of the 4th quarter, the game was well in hand for LSU and my wife was pestering me to get on the road to beat the traffic. It still took us over 7 hours to get home, but I was happy to be there to support my team, and I'm sure more people would have stayed to cheer on the team if the game were close. I'm glad you had a good time anyway, but I'm not sure what else you were looking for in a pregame team entrance.

ETA - We've all known for a very long time that the SEC is the best, but thanks for the recognition.

Show up when there is no Hurricane, a 8 pm kick, and a top 10 or 15 SEC team coming in to play. I PROMISE you will be impressed when the tigers take the field.
