We just need someone to step up like they had someone step up for them who hasn't contributed all year.

The parallel for that on our roster would be Shaffer. It's not out of the realm of possiblitity.

I wish he could do something like that.

Bottom line if we don’t hit and let balls drop in the outfield it’s not gonna matter.

Exactly.

LSU needs to start swinging at strikes. I don't care if it is 3-0, walks are not going to win this thing for us because USM is a better hitting team than this board gave them credit for.

[quote]They are said to be only second to Tennessee in pitching depth. But I don't think that matters, all LSU!/quote]

Every time you post I just feel really bad for Jeff.

Their bullpen >>>> our bullpen

Our bullpen is better than theirs, but theirs has outplayed ours this weekend.

We have about the fifth best staff in the SEC, and that's without decent starters. Our bullpen is good. Hopefully today they will play like they did all year long.

Nobody pitches 3 days after a long start. Nobody. Maybe 1 inning of relief, and even that's in question.

Coastal carolina, louisville, and michigan have all already posted lineups today. They all started guys who have thrown 85+ pitches either friday or saturday

I wouldn't be surprised to see Tanner Hall start. I think he's a good matchup for us, though, and Berry probably knows that. He's more likely to save him for later after we've seen some other guys. Just my guess.

That’s just it we are not getting walks because we are swinging at pitches out of the zone. We are watching fastballs go by and swinging at junk.

It’s the postseason the guys want the ball. They save their arms during the season so that they can do this in the postseason if they are needed to advance.

A kid like Hilliard is likely not looking at a pro career. He’s going to pitch until his arm falls off if he has to.

Doesn’t matter who they throw, as long as it’s below the knees, we will swing & miss

And your posting degrades LSU every single time.

Runners on base makes a huge difference. I don't mind players swinging 3-0 if it's a good pitch for them to hit, otherwise, lay off and take the BB. On 3-2 LSU swung at a lot of pitches in the "dirt" (I know it's turf) last night. Those strikeouts killed what could've been big innings. It happens, but it happened too often last night.

I’m very worried about our pitching. If you aren’t, you haven’t been paying attention all season.

We had 12 Ks to their 4 Ks. I was not a big fan of the personnel JJ ran out there last night. Bryce was the first one to start getting ready but he wasn't used until the 6th. Coop got hit really hard Friday and came in and was immediately greeted. He settled in for the 4th and 5th and prob should have been pulled then but that wasn't the case. He comes out and gives up a lead off walk and then Reyz struggles and falls apart.

It will be a kitchen sink game but the only guys that should not throw again today, IMO are:
-Floyd
-Cooper
-Taylor
-Dutton

Hopefully we only need Hilliard, Reyz, Viet, Fontenot and Gervase.
