I’m happy to have Shareef O’Neal on the basketball team

I’m watching Shaq Life on TNT. They showed when Shareef had his heart surgery and his progression getting back on the court. He is a great kid with a great personality and I loved his interview he did with Jordy and T-Bob. Having him and his daughter signed to play for LSU is great and looking forward to seeing Shaq here more often. He will be a great fit and Will Wade will get the best out of him. His other son Shakir said he wants to be the best high school basketball player and asked him if he can talk to the LSU coach for him. Shaq said no you are going to earn it and I’m not making any phone calls. I don’t know how good he is but the youngest daughter is 13 at 6’3 and she is a hell of a ball player.

His daughter must be a walk-on, LSU never announced signing her....
I would think the younger daughter would be targeted, but she’s a long way off...just going into high school.

I think this is correct. She really wasn't a highly sought after prospect.

Shakir is only 6-3 but he can play. Has a good jump shot and perimeter game. He is a 3 star recruit right now. Needs to get stronger. Dont be surprised if Shakir ends up being a better college player than Shareef.

She got a scholly, well sure thought I saw it but how can you prove it cause there is no thread to show all the recruits for women's basketball comits? Really thought I remember seeing something

not like her dad couldn't afford to cover her tuition. for all we know, he could be making a program supporting donation to the team, athletic department, or even the school as a whole. frankly, as he (& anyone in a similar position) should.

I'm very happy to have him as well, but his numbers aren't very impressive. Hopefully it's just due to his surgery and playing on a bad UCLA team.

Yea I have seen some of his highlights and he can for sure play, idk how old or what grade he is in, but he can definitely work his way on the Wadar (I'm Sorry)

Every O’Neal belongs at LSU, period. Shaq epitomizes everything good about LSU sports and is the face of our Mount Rushmore, it just felt wrong to see his kid at UCLA

My early apologies on if this ends up derailing the thread, but the statement brings up an issue that should be addressed, as others have similar thoughts and comments.
But why, "frankly," should Shaq (or "anyone in a similar position") be obligated to have to do anything? It's his money that he has earned and should do with it as he wishes and sees fit. If you are referencing that he should be making donations to the school and/or athletic dept., then I would argue that he has done plenty already and I'm sure is likely to do more in the future as he can. It is a good way to give back to the school that helped get him where he is.
But if you are referring to the fact that he should somehow be obligated to pay for his child or children's education instead of them being on scholarship just because he is rich, then that is b.s. There are 2 major types of education scholarships in this world: (1) those that reward academic, extra-curricular, or athletic hard work and accomplishments; and (2) those that are awarded based on need. If a student falls into the category of having earned a scholarship based on his/her performance academically or athletically, then they should receive a scholarship regardless of how much money their parents make.

6’3” at 13 is tall regardless if it’s a boy or girl. But for a girl that’s huge. If she even gets to 6’8” that’s big in college.
