He can run faster than his 95 mph fastball? And he can hit.

Well for one thing, Jobert is VERY streaky. This guy gives the team another DH option when the swing and miss starts with Jobert. Hitting in the SEC is a major challenge. Jobert IMO is the best DH option right now but having another good option will make him and us better.

We just went through this with Austin Bain not too long ago.
The easiest way to look at it is to treat Skenes-SP and Skenes-DH as two separate/unique players. Basic sub rules apply from there.
Now, if he goes from a field position to the mound during the game - the DH is burned for the remainder of the game. He could bat as long as he is still pitching, but once a reliever comes in - that new pitcher would now be in the lineup. That’s how we got the Todd Peterson “I hit bombs” moment in the SEC tourney.

How good of a hitter is he? Is he good enough for us to swap a position player out for the DH in the line up?

He can also be pinch hit for, making that player the new DH, while still remaining on the bump as the pitcher.

False

Because he’s a power battery.

He’s either pitching or playing OF & hitting IMO.

Not sure who the last 6’6” LSU position player was.

When was the last time Hellmers was in the batting lineup my man?

Are you obligated to DH for the pitcher in college baseball? Surely we had some pitchers who could have topped Millazo's 0.135 BA 2 years ago. Why are we okay with Hellmers hitting when he plays 3B but not when he's on the bump?

He’s AA level as a pitcher and hitter. We have, at least, 2 catchers with better defensive skills on our roster. I’d never heard of the John Olerud award until ~5m ago and he won it this year. I’m pretty sure that his MLB future is pitching.

Would it make more sense to only use Skenes as a DH or C on days when he isn’t pitching?

Yes, but he won't be catching.

DH/1B/maybe but doubt corner OF when he isn't pitching.

LOL…his bunts are probably faster than his feet. I watched a YT video the other day which was calling him the “next” Babe Ruth. So I guess we have 2 Babe Ruth’s because I heard the same comment about Tank White…and he kinda looks the part.

Fortunately, people are more open to 2-way players now because of Ohtani. I doubt he catches but it would be exciting if LSU were to be able to tout an Ohtani type player that can pitch and hit at a high level.

What pitcher was hitting that Todd Peterson came in for?

I don’t remember the exact details - but the DH has been burned at that point. Peterson was dealing and CPM decided to let him bat rather than bring a new arm in.

This is a RH and a LH. They are not very interchangeable.
