I questioned the call and I still think it falls on the coaching staff. If you don't have a handful of proven plays that can get you in the end zone from 9 yds out in 4 plays, you are not practicing the right things. Play to win or expect mediocracy.

It's a shitty bowl game against shitty Notre Dame. Go for it. Accepting 3 was playing not to lose. frick that. I'd rather lose playing to win.

Ruled by the mediocre. This actually fits better

Your analysis was mine to a "T" - that being said, I was pleased that we made the FG and telling myself that hopefully we would not get jinxed with a fluke play as has happened before in recent LSU games - and damned if it didn t happen!!! ND had done nothing to make me think they could score on their last possession - all of their points required making numerous 3rd and long conversions that were unlikely to be replicated. The QB made some great runs to keep their drive alive and the WR catch was as unlikely as the Bluegrass Miracle - this should go down as the Lucky Charm Miracle for ND - not so lucky for our boys - we deserved to win - by at least a TD - that's what makes it so hard to swallow!

It was 100% the right call. People are bitching because that's what LSU fans do. Coach O put faith in the defense. It was a lose lose situation for O.

Aranda can only put them in position.

I thought Chavis was back for the ND game. There are a lot of valid criticism of the offense and special teams but if the defense stopped on of those 3rd and long plays we would have won.

You can play the odds or be a winner

What if you also knew the ND offense drove the full field and scored a TD and 2 pt conversion on their previous possession?

Then you would think, “That prevent didn’t work like I wanted so I’ll go back to my basic defense and maybe even blitz”

Some of our teams in recent memory yes, but not this one, nor the one in '12.

Aranda didn't have his best moments in the 2nd half. They were blitzing the house on us and we were giving their backup QB all year to throw. It happens sometimes though.

Still, if you asked me if I'd take our O-line and Guice/Williams on 4th and inches or ND's D, I'd take Guice/Williams.

I know I would have had my star player in on the final drive and would have desperately tried to put the ball in his hands some kind of way.
