1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Oregon (very close but still not enough D to beat LSU if we don't stop ourselves like last night).
4. Georgia
5. Florida State

So fricking what? You can't compare football games like that. Each game is a completely different scenario

well you say clemson doesn't have an offense, but they did a bit better than we did. and they did it without their best player

but you can just proclaim Clemson to have have a good offense?

I did no such thing.

you indirectly did by criticizing FSU's defense
that criticism only makes sense if clemson doesn't have a good offense (but they do)

Didnt say that either. Comment was a credit to our defense not their offense. You're not very good at this.

Well you boys are more optimistic than I. I feel like I should do a cross reference and see who thought LSU would blow out Auburn and disregard those comments:) I am one of those btw, which is why I have them ranked so low.

I would worry about it after LSU and Bama play. assuming both are undefeated that will be your answer.
However, we still have to get by South Carolina, Ms. State, and Florida so we have a long way to go.

Right where we are. FSU nearly lost to Clemson and both teams are overrated IMO. Oregon has looked solid and I have no problems with them jumping us this week.

Honestly I thought we would, but that was being optimistic and an LSU fan. The numbers from previous meeting @ AU told a different story and that theme was held in check. It's a simple as that. We won ugly in a hostile environment. Other top teams haven't been so lucky this year. We're 4-0 and going to make adjustments.

I'd be one of those crazy votes that uses results from the current year as significant criteria:
1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. Kansas State
4. Florida State
5. Stanford
6. Notre Dame
7. Georgia
8. LSU
1. Alabama
2. Oregon

4. Florida State
5. Stanford
6. Notre Dame
7. Georgia
8. LSU

Remember these polls are primarily based on a preseason rating that assumed LSU wouldn't struggle at times against terrible teams
No, they are based on returning talent.
1 - Alabama
2 - LSU
3 - Georgia
4 - Oregon
5 - FSU
6 - S. Carolina
7 - WVU
WVU had their hands full with Maryland at home this weekend. S. Carolina has a QB who just finally played a full game, but should've lost to Vandy earlier this year if not for a phantom PI call. FSU was down by 2 TDs at home in the 3rd qtr. Oregon and it's awesome offense was up 13-0 in the 3rd qtr against a PAC 12 defense with a new coordinator and Arizona was in the red zone 6 times. Georgia looks good right now, but I don't think could beat LSU or Bama. LSU is behind Bama becasue you can't argue with Bama's consistency with how they beat teams. That said, I watched Western Kentucky sack McCarron 6 times, so they have their issues as well.

I may be being too pessimistic
You are drinking the AP koolaid that always thinks flashy offenses are what wins. 6 years of SEC dominance proves otherwise. This year is no different.
Give me a good Dline, a good running game, and a good Oline and I will show you a team that will be playing for NCs. We have 2/3 and need to fix the third. Miles usually gets OL issues fixed pretty soundly.

How would you justify Stanford or ND?
Stanford beat San Jose St. 20-17 at home.
ND got outgained by Michigan at home and Mich's defense held them to 240yds total.
Maybe you would be one of those AP voters who doesn't think rationally and just flows with emotion and writes dumb crap.
TBH - you would probably fit right in.

a bunch of those SEC teams had "flashy offenses"

Or k state for that matter. They gave up 350 yards to N. Texas

And a good defense to go along with it.
Posted on 9/23/12 at 7:54 pm to Broyota2
I'd say 2nd... Oregon doesn't have a defense
Posted on 9/23/12 at 7:55 pm to LSUDat2012
yep - 5 through 8 is about right. Nice spot to be. Just beat BAMA. That's all that matters.
