Besides M Toney WR from the u - Watkins was the next best true freshman wr in all of college football last year - hope it ‘s not serious.

The kid from Texas that was commited to us and then went to Oregon was very good last year I think.

We have a lot of depth at WR. Now until its reported otherwise there is zero reason to think this is anything to worry about. The beat reporters and media will not report on injuries or risk having their access taken from them. If it is a situation where they're out for the year thats when LSU would report it. So no reason to be concerned.
Also, we don't know if its even an injury. Weston Davis missed a few sessions and was back and looked good. Now, if he is nicked up it allows for Sam to get his timing down with other receivers because that room is very deep with talent. Eugene Wilson, Jayce Brown, Jackson Harris, and Watkins are all going to see a lot of time when healthy. Not to mention Trey'dez Green.

This isn't neccesarily directed at Winnie but I absolutely hate NMU. It's one of the dumbest terms in all of sports. If the next man was as good as the first man, he probably would've been the first man and not the next man. If you're relying on the next man, odds are you're not as good as you were with the first man.

Let me help you out. Next man up means there’s no time to cry over it it is what it is. What are we supposed to play with ten in honor of the injury? No, you put the next
Best in and tell them it’s their time to play their best. Nothing to do with being as good as the injured player, simply means do the best you can to minimize the impact

People say NMU bc it used to be a real thing but now they're just conditioned to repeat a cliche they've heard so many times without putting any thought into it. Similar to a corporate middle manager or a Twitter bot.
The transfer portal era has stopped teams from stacking depth like the SEC used to do so you rarely see a backup come in and meet or exceed the starters performance. Your backups used to be young guys who often had more upside than the starter but just needed experience

I think you are missing the point. It's not said in the context of the next man is just as good. It's that whining and complaining about a guy getting hurt doesn't do anything to change the situation. The next man just has to step up for the benefit of the team.

For someone who dropped in to be as condescending as you were in response to my post, you sure seem to be misrepresenting a lot of what I said. I never said play with ten in their honor, I never said you don't put the next player in the game and try to get what you can out of them if you're a coach. As a fan, though, I have basically little to no impact on what happens relative to the product on the field. Idk why people like you act like a fan recognizing that it sucks to lose a player who figured into playing a role on offense is doing some sort of disservice to the team. Y'all are the same folks who pop up and tell fans to "focus on this game" when we're playing a bodybag game as if we have any influence over the prep of the team anyway.

We're fans though, none of us have any impact on the team at all. Whether we complain or not won't change a single thing about the product on the field and I wasn't even really whining. I just said that I think NMU is an overused cliche which it is. We could use that same argument of whining not helping and apply it to any other part of the team. Were fans wrong to complain about Joe Sloan's offense last year?
