Well, speaking strictly for LSU seasons, yes it would be the worst. Of course it would only be the second 10-3. The other being 2001, when the Tigers were SEC and Sugar Bowl champs, closed with 6 wins in a row, had the Biletnikoff Award winner and finished 7th in the nation. So yeah, this one could not match that one. However, this team would likely thump the '96 10-2 team which had a fair offense but not much defense. Remember that a boatload of teams,(USC,OU,OM,ND,FSU,UGA etc) that were ranked very highly early in the year would give their left pecan to be 10-3 this year.

I think we should just schedule to play Tulane 12 times per season. We'll go 12-0 most seasons and everyone can

Totally just IMO no inside knowladge. Think about it. The reputation of Les right or wrong is big ten run first mentality. Why would he run 3 straight pass plays inside of fg range that would have won the game?

Who cares? Wins are wins. You take them when you can get them. It's a cliche' but good teams find ways win the close games. Would you feel better if this were the 2005 team that finished 11-2 that eveyone acknowledged was playing the best football in the country for the last 2 months? Go look at the 2002 Ohio State team. Hands down the least dominating 14-0 team in history. Most people remember the 14-0 record and the crystal ball and not some of those "ugly" wins.

I dont know about that. The last team to go at least 14-0 was Penn in 1897. They went 15-0 that season. They also went 14-0 in 1895. The Yale team from 1894 went 16-0.

So basically there are 3 teams that have gone 14-0 or better in college football history and only one, tOSU, in the last 115 years.

I'd have to say LSU's 2009 10-3 would be better than Cincinnati's 10-3 in 2007 with a win in the PapaJohn's Bowl.

Yes. Easily. Worse than some seasons when we've had worse records.

I don’t think that there is such thing as a bad 10 win season. At the time the 10-3 record of 2001 was a resounding success, and deservedly so, but if it was judged with the same stupidity being used for this one it would be a mixed bag.

LSU looked like absolute crap, 100 times worse than at any point this season, against UF. The team was lethargic and pathetic in a very disappointing home loss to an average Ole Miss team. Also there was very close wins against mediocre teams like UK and Arkansas. Only because Auburn collapsed that team ended winning the west, and is still the only SECCG winner with 3 losses.

People did not have the inflated expectations and false sense of entitlement they do today. Otherwise that season would not have been enjoyable either.

We dominated Auburn in that game. It got moved because of 9/11. Not only did we make the SECCG, we beat #2 UT who was primed for a BCSCG appearance.

That 10 win season is clearly and beyond doubt a much better season than this year by any standards. SEC Champions, BCS Bowl game, skull dragged Illinois in the Sugar Bowl.

I'm not putting down that team by any means. My point is that with all this ridiculous crying about "winning ugly" you can bring down just about any team.

Yes, that team started slow, was 4-3 with some ugly wins. But they finished very strong with 6 straight wins including the SECCG and Sugar Bowl.

This season will be remembered for 2-3 things.

1. Ole Miss
2. 108th ranked offense
3. Les' 1st bowl loss if we do lose, but we aren't.

I have been very critical of Les, but I'm assuming a strong bowl performance until proven otherwise. It's one thing Les certainly has on his side.

No because there is no such thing as a bad 10-3 team.

Good lord, learn to enjoy football and the effort to compete or just stop watching.

We lost to the #1 and #5 team in the country in close games. We lost another close game to Ole Piss.

If we finish the season with a win over Penn then I will consider this a successful season with room for improvement.
