Should we take the ball and hopefully score or defer to the second half? Let's take the ball. Getting points and going ahead early could make this interesting. Georgia has played a softer schedule than LSU. GA-94TH, LSU-30TH. Let's get ahead and make GA come from behind. What say you ?

defer, that way LSU can hopefully score before halftime and have momentum going into the locker room, and then score on the opening 3rdQ drive.

If UGA scores going into halftime, and then on the opening 3Q drive that would be hard for LSU to answer and overcome.

Didn’t BK have a reason earlier in the season for choosing to receive first? Against Tennessee?

Did he abandon that after it backfired with Bech muffed return?

You never take the ball if you win the toss... that strategy worked so well for us vs Tenn that it buried us by the time we got our first possesion of the 2nd half. UT hung a FG and a TD on us going to the locker room and starting 3rd qtr.

Score first and go up 7-0 to avoid a shutout and lose 7-42

Some BS analytics guru said the team that scores first wins like 80% of the time but that stat in a vacuum is meaningless.

Always defer unless you have an elite offense. In that case you still defer. Always defer.

Yeah, great idea. A team that has absolutely struggled to get going in the first half all year and comes alive in the second half should definitely take the ball if they win the toss. Great strategy, and another great thread. Keep em coming guys

I’m always for deferring. I like the 2-for-1 where you get the opportunity to score at the end of the half and to start the 3rd quarter. It results in a huge momentum swing if you pull off 10-14 points on the board before your opponent possesses the ball again.
