Eh CMU really didn't blitz too much. Our oline is still putrid. High hopes but low expectations for the rest of the season

Based on what? You think the defense is gonna magically not get torched by Chip Kelley? You think our offensive line is going to magically play better against P5 talent? We gonna magically have a running game?
The whole premise of this thread is sad
We're talking about hypotheticals for not getting dominated by a middle of the road PAC12 team

This coaching staff was not ready for the game.
They did not have the players prepared. That is the coaches’ jobs.

if UCLA was up next, you wouldn't see as many dropped passes and with the emergence of the younger receivers and running backs, our offense would look a lot better, and the defense has improved somewhat...

Being completely exposed by UCLA’s blitzing defense and confused as shite by their misdirection lead directly to concept, personnel, and maybe even philosophical changes. If we opened with McNeese, we wouldn’t have played that well against CMU, and probably would have tepidly thought we beat UCLA and then they would have come in and rocked our world leading into SEC play.

Not magically, but if we played today AFTER we already got torched I think the defense would do much better, even akin to the first half where we held them in check for the most part.

We would play them better, even if we would have had 1 game prior. Just for some confidence going into it.
That being said, I think 2019 Texas game is closer had we not smoked GA Southern the week before.

oh man...i miss opening the season versus number 3 Oregon and whipping their asses. Or Miami, UNC, etc....
