re: If Valentine was not having "clearance" issues what is our record?

The assumption that Valentine is going to be a difference maker is based on hope more than anything.
It's based on the fact that he is 6'4 360. If he could do anything but not get pushed around, he would be better than anything we have been playing at DT. Do you remember Terrance Cody's big arse at Bama? He really did not but was a brick wall. Right now, we need him to fill a dam break in the middle of our defense. Godchaux and LMFAO will then be able to get pressure on the QB also, and we could finally start hitting people behind the line of scrimmage.
These were the only two true freshman defensive line guys during the offseason, that I thought would see the field. Both are very disruptive and stout at the point of attack.
Coupled with Beckwith playing nearly the entirety of games, and Jamal Adams getting starts, we could really look a lot better by the end of the year. It's why I have changed my tune on those last two games of Arkansas and TAMU.
Win the next two, win the back two (we should be clicking with experience and the best players on the field), and play upset to Ole Miss (crappy run game). We could end the regular season on a high note, winning 5 of our last 6.
I've seen mid season changes by LSU in 2010. One was Lee providing the passing with JJ's running, in wins vs UF and Tennessee
JJ playing way better the 2nd half of the season than the first (omitted McNeese St game)
First 6 - 53/101 (52.5%) 546 yards (5.4 ypa) 2 TD 7 int, 58 car 231 yards (3.99 ypc) 4 TDs
Last 6 - 60/99 (60.6%) 837 yards (8.45 ypa) 5 TD 3 int, 63 car (3.92 ypc) 243 yards 3 TDs
Then in 2012 after the loss to UF, we gave Hill the lion share of carries.
We also replaced (had to) a guard and a tackle with a true freshman and redshirt freshman
After the bye, the WR drops almost dissapeared, and Mett looked better.
This season will be a work in progress.

Same - one DT won't change the outcome of the two losses.

Same record.
No one is a savior or a badass until they actually suit up and prove it. I'm sick of hearing about these 'studs'. Show me.

4 and 2, but losses may have been more respectable.

Same record most likey unless he's a warren sapp type of DT

Somebody in the middle makes a stop or two on Dak running around, and maybe we pull that one out
Good lord - did you even watch the Miss St game? We got DOMINATED on both sides of the ball from the opening kick.
MSU stopped playing (both offense and defense) early in the 4th quarter when they got up 34-10. If they'd have continued playing their regular game, there's no way we would've scored those late TDs and made the game look close, at least on the scoreboard.
Getting "a stop or two" on Prescott wouldn't have done a single thing to change the outcome of that game. We got crushed.
Good lord.

it may have been nice to have a 370 pounder in the middle
No kidding.

Literally the exact same.
I love how some people think that Valentine would fix all of our issues, even though nobody has seen him play or anything like that and hes a DT. Could he help? Sure. But its not like Valentine would single handily have stopped Miss St and Auburn. And he doesnt play offense.

Valentine has more hype coming in than LF if you think a guy 400 pounds would change the outcome of any game we played. Take a long break from the computer

Like I said...hope. Your post is dripping with it.
That doesn't mean you'll end up being wrong...just that your position isn't based on solid evidence of anything.

This can't be a serious question

He is a true freshman. No true freshman is the "savior" of the football program. We'd still have 2 losses
Posted on 10/9/14 at 8:40 am to PurpleandGeauld
Is he cleared now?

The same. One freshman would not have made a difference in those 2 lopsided losses.
