Ten years ago they were coming off a season where they won 54 games, SEC regular season, tourney, and had the #1 and 8 picks in the MLB draft and were returning the eventual #2 pick in 2008.

10 years ago when in 2017 they were the #1 overall seed and then a few short years later they lost in the championship finals? Or that time they actually won it since? Or the other time when they were the #2 overall seed? Or the other time they were the #6 overall seed? All within the pas decade.

And they have a distinct advantage on recruiting/scholly’s because private institutions don’t have the same limitations as public.
There was an article on this when the guy from Vandy picked Tulane over MSU.
I don’t recall but it had something to do with how they handle academic schollys.
