Dang shame the impact his injury had on his career.
He was a real coach on the floor and one of the best pt guards ever to come out of Louisiana.
I would like to see him back at LSU in some position.

Paul Hewitt just got canned, hire him. Better than 3/4ths of the names already mentioned

just like pretty much this entire thread.

Does anyone know when Utah will make a decision and also who are the other names mentioned in addition to Trent Johnson as possible candidates?

I don't know who exactly but I'd be looking at coaches from the Big East, maybe a top assistant

I wanted Jamie Dixon when we hired Trent, and he would still be my top choice if a vacancy opens up this year.

Jeff Capel was just canned from Oklahoma. I think he would fit in well here.
Of course, I'm a TJ supporter (which means I know nothing about bball apparantly), and I would not want to see him go.

Scott Drew is a horrible coach. I follow Baylor Basketball very closely. Just a good recruiter, but he does it in a sketchy way. All of the other Big XII coaches hate him.
Tim Floyd is the answer. Cue "he has a bad recruiting track also."

I want to know the reasoning behind this. I'm not saying I disagree, but I want to know what makes him so attractive. He's no spring chicken, and he seems to bounce from job to job.

I personally would look at Tim Floyd first. You wanna talk about hiring a coach and not losing ground in recruiting... hell probably even gain ground. He's the guy.
Floyd is the type of guy who would come here and stay here for a long time. He's not going to the NBA again. He has roots here. He knows the area. He is an unbelievable recruiter in a state with unbelievable talent. I think it would be a perfect fit. He has always wanted this job.

He got a call from his former boss a couple weeks ago, and he got laughed at pretty much. Dream on

California?
New Jersey?
Illinois?
What are the last two 5 star players from Louisiana?
To put your statement in perspective, it would be like Indiana claiming to be a great football recruiting area. not really.

Greg Monroe, and probably Ricardo Gathers next year. Gathers may be a 4.

This is an awful comparison, FWIW.
Louisiana has really good basketball talent. We just let it get out of state a lot/don't recruit those players.
The last two years have been down, but if you follow high school basketball at all, Louisiana has a few kids coming up that are going to be unbelievable. Probably a top 5 player in the country for the 2013 class.

ok. just the last two years were "down", which is to say, not good and perhaps, you think, not typical.
some year when Louisiana has one guy in the top ten (like they nearly always do in football), we can talk again about it.
UNBELIEVABLE talent, you said.
Also you hinted that there were some better ones who got away due to grades. I presume not recruited = cant get into LSU with those ACT scores and D's on his report card, something like that.
