They are getting a new LSU President in place, who will be hired by next week. That’s the priority
So assume the plan is as follows

1) Hire new president
2) Fire Woodward
3) Hire new AD
4) Conduct coaching search
5) Hire new coach sometime in December

I don't like this dead period where nobody's being vetted or interviewed.

No candidate would be formally interviewed now any way as, I'd imagine, most of said candidates are coaching their teams right now. It's also entirely possible that formally interviewing with a different school without the knowledge of their current school could be a breach of contract.

Agents are having preliminary discussions with people affiliated with schools with job openings AS WELL as those without job openings currently, but who may have openings within a month. Agents don't just talk the ADs. They talk to the donors too.

Now, LSU may not have a set "leader" in the search, but discussions between agents and people who will be involved with the hiring are being held. There is no "dead period". It may just seem "dead" to you because you aren't involved in those discussions.

Exactly. I was about to post the same thing. Agents are either calling LSU or being called by LSU.

Ok it isn't Scott what exactly is freaking happening then?

His job. Just like a GM at a country club. You pick the candidates based on resume and referrals. The board or search committee chooses the best fits and all interview and choose the best person.

Who are you going to hire tomorrow? All of the coaches are busy right

The conversations should be going on right now to see interest and to vet

You do realize hiring a new AD takes a while? It's at least a 45-60 day process from avertise to hire.

Not if they already have the new AD lined up.

Not saying they do, but certainly wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve already got a plan to make Thomas or Josh Brooks (or someone else) the next AD

Is the AD technically an LSU hire? The lines seem to be blurred right now in that respect
