re: If LSU loses to Bama: There is no repeat of last year & LSU don't get a shot

it would be a crime for bama to get the do-over and not LSU. but, the nation doesn't want one and someone else will get the shot. it would suck but life ain't fair. it also depends on who else is available. if fsu is undefeated, they are in. and they really don't play anybody but uf so they have a pretty easy road. also, tejas only has one game (maybe 2 with west virginia). i expect an undefeated sec winner to be in the ship but a one loss winner won't poll higher than an undefeated fsu and tejas. the country is tired of our domination (media also). oh, i left out ohio state. the big 10 sucks and they could easily go undefeated.

Bama was not given special treatment over OSU.
wrong...how much bitching from media pundits over the years about the "system" when teams that lost in their conference championship game still got into the NCG and now we had a team that had already lost to LSU at home, that didn't even win their division that was taken over a team with an equivalent record, a conference champion from the toughest conference according to the computer rankings and who played a lot stronger schedule than Bama and that had won its conference championship game convincingly over #13 Oklahoma...
and now, with these same media pundits that bitched about the system all those years, now with more power in the voting, votes a non division winner and non conference champion team in the NCG...
yes, that got special treatment...

The question is:" If we beat Alabama again this year will we have to play them again in the NC?"
Posted on 9/16/12 at 6:09 pm to Big Don
The purpose of the BCS is to match the two best teams up for the championship game. Nobody in their right mind can say that LSU and Bama were not the two best teams last year. No matter how Bama got there, the BCS got this one right.

That argument is bullshite from both ends. LSU would have been in the NCG if we'd lost to Bama in OT last year. Bama was not given special treatment over OSU
They most certainly where. We'll never know if LSU would have gotten a rematch obviously, but had Bama won 9-6, there would not have been stories about how LSU outplayed Bama, it would have been Bama should have won by more. Bama may have had the same record, but Bama only beat 3 FBS teams that had a winning record. OSU beat I think 7.

Bama had one of the worst resumes of any team to make the BCS CG. 3 wins over FBS teams with a winning record. That's the fewest winning teams by any BCS CG particpant in the 14 years of the BCS. The "right mind" you are talking about is the "eyeball" test. Its 100% subjective. Just remember that when they use that standard to put someone else in some time. SEC fans were all about schedule and who you play, until that argument doesn't work in your favor, then its all about the eyeball test.

ESPN is not going to let that happen. They didnt want it last year and they are not going to let it happen this year.
Where were you last year? ESPN was very instrumental in Bama getting the do-over.
They pumped Bama up every chance they got and downplayed Okie State.

First off it's way too early to make any such prediction. Second like the other boys said, there is far too much yet to accomlish to every worry about that. My concern is if LSU wins and facing Alabama again.

A) It's a tossup who wins. Either team can do it.
B) Whoever loses will not get a rematch shot.
1 Loss USC or and undefeated Oregon/Oklahoma go.

And let me say this: We got our asses kicked Jan 9th. But the only reason Bama got that opportunity was because they are Bama. Shame on us for not showing up.

For years everyone claimed USC would win any one game in a championship scenario yet they only made it twice. That wasn't the system. They twisted the system around last year just for Bama. Following precedent there was no way Bama should have been in the game. There was always some type of objective criteria and to pick the teams. Last year only the "eye ball test" was used for Bama's case which was ridiculous considering their horrible schedule.
Really why was it ok to put Bama over OSU when UF got put in over Michigan in 2006.

So if we only lose to Bama this year and it is Bama and LSU are clearly the 2 best teams this year and Oklahoma wins the Big 12 championship with 1 loss, you think we get in over them. Hell No

USC will not pass Florida State. They have such a cupcake schedule
Posted on 9/17/12 at 11:28 am to LSUDat2012
Lsu is playing this season to have the privilege of playing bama twice while bama sits at home during the sec championship game again
Posted on 9/17/12 at 11:44 am to rickgrimes
Yea LSU wont whine and complain about a rematch if we lose. But we wont have to ask for one this year!
Posted on 9/17/12 at 11:54 am to rickgrimes
USC will be the Bama of 2012... they will be the first one loss team to get in.
Posted on 9/17/12 at 11:56 am to rickgrimes
No, absolutely not. Why would a #2 team that loses at home to the #1 team think they deserve a rematch. That kind of thinking is beyond comprehension.

The truth is we are not Bama and ESPN and the rest of the media won't bat for us like they did for them last year. Discuss...

Agree.
And, I think there is a distinct possibility that LSU could beat Alabama and have to play them again...again.

Gut feeling that LSU wins the SEC West and the SEC again this year. That includes beating Bama at Tiger Stadium.
