Miles isn't smart enough to run the offense. He will make damn sure to hire the best possible guy cause I believe he knows his job is riding on this hire.

#3 - Keep Miles

Why?
- Changing a head coach is more likely to result in fewer wins than more wins.
- The reward does not outweigh the risk.
- Lack of a suitable replacement. Let's be honest about this. There aren't many big name coaches who are lining up to move their families to BR, even for $4mil a year. What you're most likely to get is an up-and-coming coach who is willing to relocate for less.
- LSU has invested an awful lot in Les Miles, and overall, he's done a good job as the face of the University. Sure, he's taken a hit with some inexcusable gaffes, but overall, the LSU brand is strong.
- Coaches should only be fired after they truly fail. The past two seasons haven't been great, but I don't think failure is the right word.

WIth that said, I go with firing Miles now and my top three are:

1. Nick Saban
2. Sean Payton
3. Bill Belichek

Since one of them 'will' accept, that is my list.

I know I'm swimming against the tide (no pun intended) but any highly-paid coach, including these guys, is FOOL's GOLD!

Really? I bet they would be beating down the door to come to LSU.

The potential replacements would be:

2. Bob Stoops
3. Bobby Petrino

best list I've seen yet.

Why has that scenario never happened before?

fire les miles and hire mangino or weiss...we wouldn't have to pay them, just give them free gift cards to local restaurants
They would both explode within 6 months of being in B.R. with all the good eating... But on a serious note, I would choose option #2. While I don't think Miles is the long term answer, he gets another year to right the ship with a new OC...If he sticks with Crowton, then I know he is going down, just like Dinardo did, trying to protect his friends...

of course. of course the negatigers would think butch davis, bob stoops, spurrier and tubberville should replace miles.

you want davis because you say Miles squanders talent, so lets hire a guy who didnt win the NC with 16 future first round pics on the team. this of course was 10 years ago, and hes done nothing notable since.

you want Stoops because you say Miles only won the NC with someone elses players, so lets replace him with someone who won a NC in his second year, and has done nothing but lose big games ever since.

you want Spurrier because you say Miles has turned us into a bottom tier SEC team, so lets replace him with someone who is 13-19 in the SEC for the past four years and has never won his division.

you want tuberville because you say the team has quit on Miles and he cant beat saban or bama, so lets replace him with someone who got fired after losing 6 of his last 7 games (the only win being vs tennesee-martin) culminating with a 36-0 loss to saban and bama.

amazing. you frickin people are simply amazing.

Anyone saying Stoops or Davis has gone full retarded. I want a hungry coach not a has been. Also anyone suggesting Spurrier, Tubberville, or any NFL head coach with no college coaching experience needs to check into an insane asylum.

Bob Stoops?? Are you serious. He got out coached by Boise a few years ago. He whines like a baby, has been beat twice in the national championship game. I don't think he sucks, but the rant would want his head on a platter with this record. Oh, let's not forget Lester beat him twice. LOL Bob Stoops, put down the pipe.

great post. My thoughts exactly. Grass is always greener. Almost every replacement has question marks.

Its alright to disagree with my choice of Bob Stoops but you should read my thread on Why and insert you own candidate LINK
