Not likely. Will be astounded if he manages one.

Nick had to have all the resources and all the control to be successful. He would’ve butted heads with too many big personalities in La and someone on the board or some rando politician would’ve driven him away. Sucks he went to Bama and no one ever made Les build an offense. We were happy with just good enough.

Optimistically LSU would probably have won 2 or 3 Nattys from 05-2017, Bama has no dynasty whatsoever, but pessimistically the Saints probably go to San Antonio

I don’t think you realize how much better Louisiana would be had LSU won those titles and the saints were no longer siphoning state resources to keep them here.

I have forgiven Nick for leaving on the Saturdays we have beaten Bama. But by the following Sunday evening, I'm back to being bitter again.

he was hired here because his obvious leadership and management skills were apparent to our AD

LSU's A.D. is not the reason for the hiring of Saban.

they went 9-7 and didn't get a wildcard spot ... I don't know the details, but who knows what happens if he takes the Fins to the playoffs

The Dolphins went 6-10 his second season - no team deserves to go to the playoffs with that kind of a record.

Saban coming back to college fb wouldn't have been as big a deal to lsu fans had he not come back to a sec west rival and been successful. Also, it was the way it was handled. Not so much the lying but what happened afterwards. Alabama did everything they could to rub it in. They announced him as the coach during the lsu/bama basketball game. Immediately after signing the contract, Saban pulled LSU's signee list and started recruiting them. He also stated things like "the backlash for me coming back is so bad that my secretary's car had her tires slashed when she went to BR". Like how did anyone know that was his secretary's car. Did she have a sign that said "I work for Nick Saban" on it. Time heals all wounds but those first couple of years were brutal. I remember when he stated after an lsu win "of course they won, looks who's players were on the field". Saban didn't just come back to college and start trying to build up bama, he also tried tearing down lsu in the process.

Also, I bet he does regret it but more for the legacy aspect. I don't care what he did at bama, he'll never be Bear Bryant. Every school seems to have that one coach that is the epitome of the school. Knute Rockne at ND, Bo Schembechler at Michigan , Bear Bryant at bama, Vince Dooley at GA, etc. LSU has never had THAT coach. Had he stayed and done here what he did at bama, he would be that coach here. Tiger stadium would probably be renamed Saban Stadium.

We might have it now with BK but time will tell. Since BK’s up there in age though, I wonder who would be a worthy successor when he hangs it up way WAY down the line. Just hope LSU doesn’t screw this possible BK Golden Age up. I’m content with the respective states of our programs, need to break through with McMahon in men’s bball though.

If Bo Rein’s plane doesn’t crash, we don’t know anything about DiNardo or Saban.

Yes that's why he left college, and he once stated he never wanted to coach "overpaid" college players as in the NFL years before he left LSU.
