Kept Blake Baker, Austin Thomas and others he jettisoned once he took the job, would LSU be in a better position now and would we have had better records the last two years?

Why do LSU fans do this to themselves? The program would be exactly where it is now.

Kelly had to change the entire culture around the program. That required a clean sweep. He accomplished changing the culture. So… now he can re-hire some of the good ones back. It’s all a positive.

No, because the culture was fricked.

If your dad had pulled out, we wouldn't have had to read this dumb arse thread.

Oh what could have been.

No, maybe worse.

There was a bad overall atmosphere around LSU at that point. Keeping more guys from the prior staff could have left a lingering bad taste, instead of the fresh start. And given the heavy attrition that had occurred by the bowl (most of the players had already left by the time Kelly got the job), you were still going to be shorthanded on the field.

House wasn't a problem in 2022. But without his collapse in 2023, we don't get a revamp of the staff now, which includes a better D Line coach/recruiter, among others. And I think Baker needed to get some time as an SEC DC, he definitely wouldn't have been promoted from LB coach at the time... so we're still looking at a different DC now.

I’ll just point out 1 reason this is dumb

If he kept Baker as LB coach he’d probably be gone by now trying to become a DC. Baker was never going to get promoted to DC with a new coach coming in.

A clean slate was needed plain and simple. There was too much bad shite around the program and BK had to get a true grip on it.

These guys are coming back to a completely different program. O was running it into the ground and it was a ticking time bomb waiting on massive NCAA crackdown.
