Happened right in front of me and I was thinking the same thing. Run left and give it to Patrick Peterson.
PP was not on field for FG attempt

the cops would have even rushed the field if he scored.

right behind the blue grass miracle just because the kentucky fans charged the field and the coach had already been drinched.

Also, if Lee had thrown it to D.Byrd who was open instead of Lafell who was double covered. If anyone still has the video you an check it out.

Look at the bright side:
If LSU would have returned that FG for a TD, the reaction by the fans would have caused such a strong earthquake that parts of Tiger Stadium would have collapsed, killing tens of thousands of people.
By not returning the FG for a TD, many, many lives were saved :)

Thanks dude, I'm going to go throw-up now. All of a sudden I feel sick.

I would have put it about one-quarter step below Billy Cannon's punt return.

It would have been called back because half the team was on the field during the return .

Ask Les to have a race between Colt David and Beckwith someday, and you tell me if he would have scored....seems like Beckwith has been confused about where he is on the field most of the season...

From that picture it doesn't look like there was any way he could have made the necessary 180 and beat those red shirts to the wall of Tigers.

Please avoid using facts or common sense on the rant. It was closer to a return for a TD...lol

87 was the holder, he got knocked down right after it got blocked, he was the only one on the left side and ended up tackling beckwith. i think if he pulls the counter step to the right a takes off left he scores. no way a bunch of lineman and 2 kickers catch a tiger running toward the student section.

That screen shot was a moment after Beckwith had gotten possession of the ball and started running right. It wasn't the starting point. If he started going left right after he got the ball (and if you watch the video, a couple of players are looking back at him and pointing left), I am pretty sure he would have scored.
Much ado about nothing but what might have been. I think it would be the top moment in Tiger Stadium history had it happened. Even with the FG block, it has to rank up there - even though we lost the game.

I don't understand what a foot race b/w Beckwith and Colt David has to do with returning a blocked FG.
Did Colt David kick that blocked FG?
My reference is to a play that actually took place in the Georgia game. Go look it up for yourself.
There is no way to truly know, but IMO Beckwith would have scored had he went immediately left, but of course there was no way for him to know that. There may have been one guy on FG team with enough speed to catch him, but there was enough interference to think he would have had a fighting chance.

If i'm going to "if" a play from the game this would definitely not be the one.
