Ok if you look at it on a basis like that then yes, but you also have to factor in that tickets to Furman were only $70, so an intelligent person would say "My tickets are $87 a game". Like I originally said $210 TAF + $400 FV = $610 total / 7 games = $87 a game.

If it makes you feel better about the post to quote only the more expensive games while leaving out the cheap ones then

The OP is not bitching about capitalism.

This is how capitalism works. (If you don't think its about money, ask Grambling about the lawsuit they are facing for their football team being a no show last week.)

People opting to not pay for something where the cost keeps increasing and the "product" gets worse get results.

TAF and the athletic department have committed to give the school $5 million a year. If the administration thinks that is in jeopardy, shite will change!

I love how posters come in these threads and spout capitalism and economics concepts, then make assumptions like LSU football is so sought after that it is a price-maker and that no price can conceivably be too high. They are getting dangerously high folks. It is at the point where many fans are starting to realize that they can pay 200-800 dollars for the two or three games a year they actually value seeing and come out WAY ahead.

It won't be long before those tickets go unsold. It is an issue LSU is and should be looking at very closely.

Season tickets cost $610 so either you aren't very good at math or you are just making shite up.

Still aren't even remotely close to the price of tickets at some of the other big time schools. Why don't you look at A&M season ticket prices.

Tickets aren't fungible. The market for Aggy tickets does not inform you of the market for LSU tickets outside of the one game a year where they intersect.

You also appear incapable of figuring out that people generally buy more than one ticket. Also, season tickets on the East side for two of them are $2800 a year.

Great. I have said several times in the thread season tickets in the end zone are $610 bucks.

BTW 2 tickets on the 45 would be $2720

I would love for you to do a study of the other ticket prices around the country for big time schools and compare then with LSU's, since LSU prices are so dangerously high and everything, just to prove your point.

As I said, the ticket prices aren't fungible. Demand for LSU tickets does not get eaten up by people who can't get their Longhorn tickets, their Tide tickets, their Auburn tickets. You only care about your team. You argument continues to be irrelevant. What is relevant is the quantity supplied and the quantity demanded. As the price gets higher, that quantity demanded is going to decrease. The only question is how elastic is the demand. Given that the Florida game had 15,000 empty seats and the ticket brokers were taking less than face for their tickets, we are reaching a point where we need to evaluate it.

You do realize the stadium is basically never at capacity no matter how many tickets get sold, right?

Ticket prices aren't going anywhere, there are still several thousand people just waiting for a chance to pay the current price.

I've been on the waiting list for tickets for years now and I have donated at least $100 to TAF every year for the past eight or so years.

This was the first year I didn't buy the mini-plan package offered because it was way too overpriced and not attractive (UAB, Kent St, Furman, and Arkansas for something like $500 for a set of two.)

I'll just game day ticket shop if that's the way it's going to be.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to be responsive to. So I'm going to say that I do realize that and I'm not saying ticket prices are "going anywhere." Just explaining that demand for football tickets isn't inelastic at any price.

It's in response to you saying the tickets are getting to the tipping point. Using actual attendance to gauge it is a pretty bad system IMO. I'm basically saying we are no where close to where you claim we are with prices.

edit: Yesterdays arrest of Brazil only added fuel to the fire for me. I'm tired of seeing these college athletes get arrested. The kind of athletes they recruit now are not the kind of people I want to support.

While I sympathize with your economic argument, these are always the kind of athletes they've recruited. Football players aren't choir boys. One Arthur Cantrelle in the early seventies comes to mind, and there are plenty of others. If you want to truly enjoy the game, best not to inspect the characters of the players too closely.

The only difference now is that you're hearing about it. Back in the day, it would have been swept under the rug.

I really don't understand where all these people are who can't get season tickets if they really want them. This year this very site has tons of folks selling their season tickets on them for face value......and yet as the season approached, bunches of them went unsold. Also, there were very few folks who looking. I had an extra pair and was barely able to get rid of them for face on craigslist.

Where is the phantom market of people ready to belly up to the bar and get tickets? What happens when these folks get tired of the BS the rest of us have to put up with (shitty parking, gameday experience)?

Next year, season tickets will have an even lower value with the extra tickets flooding the market, along with a shitty home slate.

You are trying way too hard.

This is the absolute most illogical, irrelevant argument I have ever heard in my entire life. I don't even know what the frick you are talking about. I said compare our season ticket costs to those of other big time schools. Ours are significantly cheaper than a lot of other schools.

Not saying it's made up......but why weren't these people snapping up all of the season tickets that were available on the secondary market prior to this season? Hell I have 8 tickets and I was on the waiting list this past season to consolidate some of them...Besides do you have an accurate figure on how many people were on the waiting list?

How the hell do you "barely" sell your tickets for face?

Uhh it isn't "phantom". There is a waiting list of several years currently. I would be happy to pay someone face value for their season tickets.

I go to the games every year. I won't get tired of the "BS" you are talking about. I work around the things you all seem to complain about. Parking? Ok I get there earlier. Costs are rising with everything. I fully expect the cost of tickets to rise as well. Gameday experience? An LSU football game is never a shitty experience for me. Sorry if you are miserable. I get out there early in the morning and go eat with my dad and my wife and we all go to the games together. Have an absolute blast.

Hey, in all seriousness....I will probably have a pair in the lower bowl available next year if you're interested.

My biggest complaint is LSU's lack of entertainment during extensive TV timeouts. I love college football, so it would be nice if they could do live cut ins to other games like other stadiums do.
I really don't have an issue with parking or traffic for that matter, but it seems like a big issue to most.

Had the tickets advertised for close to a month and sold them the week of the UAB game.
