If Georgia was Auburn's first loss they would be in the playoffs right now. Dont pretend like the Sec Championship broke them, they lost 3 games to Bama's one, why is it so hard to see that they hurt themselves by losing to Clemson and LSU?
Posted on 12/3/17 at 10:28 pm to EntitledBamaFan
So they hurt themselves by scheduling a tougher opponent. So basically we should all schedule the Mercers of the world

Somple. Make them inelligible by rule.
Losses should matter. Dome losses are bigger than others. If you lose a key game then you lose. What is so hard for people to understand? Do overs should not happen nor should you have ateam actually benefit by losing its' division and not playing in their conference championship game. By saying you are not elligible if you lose your division it ends all the crap.

I hope Clemson assfricks them back to the triple option days.

Oh plz Auburn always plays Clemson and LSU, Don't make it like they went out of their way to schedule a "tough" opponent. The committee disagrees with you and that's all that matters, hell, most of your own fan base disagrees with you.

People need to move on from this. Alabama is a better choice than Ohio State. We should focus on LSU. Our fanbase has no control over anything Bama but we can encourage Louisiana kids to stay in state and give money to LSU.

It's not about Alabama. It's about punishing teams for being forced to play an extra game versus rewarding teams for staying home. That's what happened this weekend. Auburn and Wisconsin were in the playoffs prior to having to play an extra game that, in this instance, Bama did not have to play. Auburn had already beaten the team they were forced to play and had beaten Bama.
Now if you want to argue that all Auburn and Wisconsin had to do was win this weekend then you are saying that conference championship matters. If conference championship matters, then OSU should be in the playoffs.
If Alabama truly was the 4th best team, then they should have been rated that way prior to this weekends game. But there were not. They were ranked the 5th best team. Meaning Wisconsin was considered a better team. Are they? We will never know because they will never play each other. What I can say is that as of now, Wisconsin has a better record than Bama. (12/1>11/1).

The answer is an 8 team playoff which includes 3 at large bids. This gets all legitimate players in.
We always hear how important the regular season is, but this shows that to be a sham. Two conference champions are left out.
We are marginally better at determining champions now than we were pre-BCS. We still have PEOPLE determining our champ with their OPINIONS.

I couldn't care less if a team wins a conference championship or not. I want the four best teams in America to make the playoffs.
If we want a system where only conference championship teams play and take the humans out of the equation altogether, that's fine too, but the playoff system will have to be significantly expanded to accommodate all the conference championships.
I like the idea of taking out all the human element altogether, as that would be the fairest system of all.

Hopefully, Clemson beats the brakes off of Bama.

What outrage lol? Outrage from the rant? The committee got it right so stop crying, it's embarrassing.

The basis for the the 4 team playoff was to give every confrence the chance to get in. So thats out the window, and was from the start. It should be a 6 team playoff, with the 5 conf champs and one at large period! If it's the best 4 teams it's no better than the BCS and still leaves out some conf's due to SOS and other criteria.
Posted on 12/4/17 at 8:52 am to Awlunz Tiger
The committee has got to go, or its power reduced to one factor of many that goes into a BCS-like formula.
And I agree, the conference championships either need to matter for something more than nothing, or be done away with.

Outrage from USAToday for one

Bama is the only team that get in the CFP when they didn't even win the SEC!

I see you don’t follow college football. Just last year Ohio St made the playoffs without winning their conference. In 2003 Oklahoma, the team LSU beat to win the title, did not win their conference. And also in 2001 Nebraska got in the championship game without winning their conference.
Thank you. The OP clearly doesn't "follow" football.. Just came to the Rant to start a bitch thread about a topic that was run in the ground yesterday. I wonder if he even watched any other games besides MAYBE LSU?
And just to "inform" the clueless ranters out there, the best 4 teams were chosen. Period. OSU lost 2 games and got blown out by 31 points to a mediocre Iowa team at home. Bama slipped one time to their biggest rival on the road. I'm not for pussifying college football, making it politically correct just to appease the Bama haters or OSU lovers.. Bama is the better team. OSU is unpredictable at best.
As for conf champ games, I feel they do have meaning in the current system. If you win your conference and still don't make it to the playoffs, you get to go to a big bowl with a nice payout that benefits your school. Not to mention the extra practice time your team gets while preparing for the Jan 1 bowl.
People just get arse hurt and post knee-jerking bullshite without thinking things through.

The playoffs ought to have some real criteria that doesn't include "the eye test."
You mean like the computers? Remember those? Everyone hated them and got their influence reduced after 2003 when Oklahoma got in over USC after OU LOST their conference title game.

the best 4 teams were chosen.
Best is subjective. You don't get to define what best is.
To some people that means best resume. To some it means wins and losses regardless of resume. To some it means who passes the "eye test"

THIS current Bama team DOESN'T deserve it! Total BS!
I hate Bama as much as everyone else, but the idea is to put the 4 best teams in and Bama is one of them. Ohio state loss by 31 points to Iowa and they lost at home by 15 to Okie which has a real good team. I don't think bama loses at home to Okie and I don't think they lose by 31 to anyone anywhere. Get over it they deserve it and we might be in that same situation one day and would hate like hell to be left out just because we did not win our division which happens to be the toughest division in football.
