All this time I thought I was a real fan. Turns out I was wrong. I wanted to go to LSU but went to and graduated from a different state university because I was greedy and wanted to save myself and my family some money. Even worse, I've been spending money supporting a team that I'm apparently not even a fan of. I've been a season ticket holder since 1995. I've been to countless away games. I've never booed the team. I've never thrown piss on another teams fans. But I have made the horrible sin of leaving early 2 times since I got my tickets in 1995.

If only I had known that going to another school or ever leaving early excludes you from being a fan.

Is there any way that I can one day become a real fan or am I just kidding myself?

You can be a real fan, you just can't say "we" or "us" when describing the team because you have no affiliation with the university.

Then you can't be a real LSU fan. Acting with class isn't allowed.

So, I guess you've never said "we" or "us" when discussing your favorite pro team that you have no affiliation with? Yeah, that's what I thought...you are ridiculous.

You must arrive two hours before kick off. Be a dork. Wear a pair of head sets. Yell to your whole section the whole time about what is going on in the game to make sure they know that not only are you a "real" fan, you are smart too.

When your first kid is born, be sure you take him and momma out to the game in late August when he is only 6 monhts old. The kid and momma can sit in the son and dehydrate and be miserable, but you can tell your bubba friends that not only are you a real fan, now your kid is too.

roll your eyes till they bleed, alumni, you know people who actually attended LSU, are more important fans to the university.

Yeah that point was kinda ridiculous because there are a lot of great non-LSU graduate fans out there. Just grasping at straws for a reason why we are Negative Nancies. I personally think we have been spoiled by success in recent years and any performance below that (new RS Freshman QB or not) is for some reason a complete failure in some eyes. Take the noose from around your neck and enjoy a successful season - even if its not as successful as you would like.

of course they are. They are alumni and have spent more money exponentially. Some of them also become very large program contributors.

so donating tons of money to TAF doesn't count?

I am an LSU grad, but understand not every fan did, like my dad. But he has season tickets, and bleeds p&g. Is he a fan?

Wait, I though your fan importance level is determined by your TAF contribution.

Way to be a douchebag dude. Read what the players have to say in the advocate this morning and you will realize why people that stayed the whole game are "True Tiger Fans".

Dude...I too always thought I was a real fan and sadly have been educated by the alum that I am wrong I grew up in Houma, LA and wanted to attend LSU my entire life. However, I joined the Air Force at 17 yrs old and have been serving for the last 21 yrs. Unfortunately, I have not been able to attend as many games as I would have liked due to military obligations and the extensive road trip that would be required from places like Korea, Columbia, etc. My family and I have always been huge LSU supporters without fail...we have dealt with the other extreme SEC fanbases throughout our time in the military being stationed in Florida during the Surrier years (97 was awful sweet though) and now in Georgia.

What it all comes down to is do you truly support your team or not...I have no plans of stopping anytime soon

I know, how can I repent and be a real fan? I've now left 2 games early. The first was because my friend had a heat stroke. I should have let that weak frick die. My fault. This time I left because it was obvious that the players didn't care in the first half, so I didn't think I had to either. My fault again. I am ashamed of myself.

I may not be a real fan but it looks like I started a thread that got anchored, so I might now be an official rantard. At least I got that going for me.
