I noticed in the post game presser that Johnson referred to Braswell & Jake Brown being there with him - instead of Ulloa. Kind of felt bad for Fidel at that point. Johnson was going on & on about Brown and Ulloa was sitting there like "what about me coach".

Coach probably got mixed up because he sent Brown and Braswell to the post game SEC network interview. Honest mistake of forgetting who he sent where for which interviews.

Fidel was money in that game. Solid.

His stuff is plenty good to get hitters out a 2nd and maybe even a 3rd time through the lineup.

Lot’s of guys “could” go through a lineup twice, but a starter is a guy who PROBABLY will go through twice. That’s not Ulloa because he is throwing almost exclusively two pitches. You could use him in that role now, but that’s only because everyone is out of pitching.

BTW, I’m not saying a guy with two pitches can’t be an effective starter, but they had better be plus pitches.

No, he only throws 2 pitches. He has closer stuff though.

Underutilized this season IMO.

Agree with your assessment here. But I remember Jay saying that he was nicked for a period after he started being used again later on in conference play.

And I believe early in the season I watched a presser where Fidel stated that he was a starting pitcher with his previous juco team so perhaps he could have been ramped up further to extend had he not had an injury or issue in the middle of the season.

Does he have the ability to be our third day starter? I think so.

I really don't know.

I thought Kade Anderson was going to grow into that position. I still think he will.

We have several pitchers who are at least decent, sometimes very good, one time through the order. The second time through the order is part of what separates the starters from the middle relievers and closers. A lot of younger guys just need the time to develop a second and third pitch to move into a starting role.

Unless we were doing some sort of backwards bullpen strategy, I don't think so. I would think his reasonable outing would be three innings at most.

It was certainly an awesome change to see a reliever "finish" successfully by someone other than Herring and not get pulled. LSU needs more of this.
