LSU 27
Vandy 16
You think Vandy's defense is so much better than Texas' that they will hold us to 27 points? If we cant score more than 27 on Vandy, we are in trouble this season

This game won't be close, man.

Mason is a solid coach
He seems to be regressing.

most of last years' team back
72% returning production from their offense, but only 43% returning production from their defense.

TN papers say Mason is in a do or die year
He'll get another year because he beats UT consistently. All my Vandy grad friends in Nashville agree that he'll get one more year after this one.

Uga and Purdue jumped on them early and they caved, hope we do same.
They have the 126th ranked pass defense and we have the 2nd ranked passing offense.
Our biggest weakness so far is getting consistent pass rush, but their OL is horrible.
We match up really well against this team. I threw a bunch of money at -23.5

Our DL is beat up but there OL sucks anyway
why would our O line suck in Nashville?

No, I wouldn't say that. However, they are higher ranked and have a higher power rating than LSU. Not that I wager on sports, I do not, find it economically irrational, but I do follow the power ratings for point spreads to get a handle on how Vegas would set a wager line between 2 teams on a neutral field. I think UGA would be a slight favorite against LSU on a neutral field. So my only take is that if LSU does not beat Vandy more than 30 this Saturday, that does not mean the sky is falling. A win of say 42 to 14 type win would cover the spread (28) but not quite be a 30 point win. It would be similar to UGA's win and as I said, they did not win by > 30.

Vandy is a well above average football team, despite not having the individual talent many of the conference powerhouses possess.
That's always been the way in our conference - yes there are teams that are typically down, relative to the others, but if you don't prepare and buckle your chin strap, Vandy or Kentucky can kick the shite out of you.
Yes, only Mike Archer has managed to lose to Vandy since Dietzel lost in Nashville the season prior to the MNC. But, Vandy hasn't been this good in decades (and I mean the Franklin/Mason era, not necessarily this year). They think they can win and they're at home. This is a dangerous game for us right now.

Agreed. I expect it to be a hard battle. The backups don’t get any time in this one. It will be a win but I’m sure, won’t be put away until late.

quote:early season stats don't mean much. We've only played one good team and UGA's best opponent was Vandy.
We're second in the SEC in rushing yards allowed per game and yards per rush, both behind Georgia
Stats only start to tell a true story 2/3 of the way into the season.

We run for over 300 yards and we should dominate... we already know we can pass..... let’s work on running ball better before the meat of the SEC comes calling.

Vandy is not good...should win 20 plus. But slow start would not surprise.
