I think we need to rush the field.

What happened to those fans? I miss that type of attitude. There are those who would say that "we are beyond that", which means our expectations have changed. The higher expectations are a good thing, but also bad. We expect to win now, and when we don't we are not just disappointed, we are crushed...and we cheer that way.
I remember the exact moment when I knew we were going to win the 2003 National Championship. I remember thinking "I can't believe we're actually going to win this game". I didn't think I would live to see the day. Maybe a little over-the-top, but it brought tears to my eyes.
It's like were adult fans now instead of the childish, immature fans. I think we need to be a little more immature.
I like the expectations...the bar has been set high. But I don't think we are too good to rush the field.

Then the athletic department will have to fork out the fine, which means higher ticket prices or that all ticketholders will have to buy a prepaid concession credit card with their ticket package

$30,000 fine
15,000 student tickets
just at $2 to all the ticket sales for next year, problem solved

I know what you mean. I referenced the fans in 03 after UGA scored late to go up. The entire stadium erupted in LSU!!! LSU!!!
Now it seems people see an incomplete pass and are ready to sit on their hands for the rest of the game.
We clearly got spoiled. It's a game, enjoy it, celebrate the experience, and cheer for our players.

It's always been more of a social event for many "fans" (I'm season ticket holder since 1990), however the expectations of LSU fans have changed big time (just look at this board). The UGA '03 game sticks out because is was the first time I could remember fans cheering and "fighting back" so to speak, after it looked like LSU may have had the game slip away. It's funny, after 2 NC's the apathy and doomsday fanbase seems to be back. In the 90's, LSU just wasn't very good. However now, in the minds of many fans they just aren't good enough

Those fans lived through the Hallman years.
I, too couldn't believe that MY SCHOOL would win a national championship during MY LIFETIME!! It was unbelievable.

The athletic department raises ticket prices like the oil companies were raising gas prices a couple of summers ago. I don't think rushing the field and getting a fine would matter. They would find an excuse either way to again double fees and prices while doing absolutely NOTHING to improve the stadium!
Oh yea, we went from a 15 inch jumbotron screen to a 25 inch flat screen......on one end of the stadium. Sweet... (sarcasm).

not enough fans in the stadium at the end of the game to get past the guards....

Well, OK but it'll take me an hour or two to get to Baton Rouge.

I think you need to not be a fricking moron. Rushing the field is what bottom feeders do, do you really want to go back to that?

When was the last time you saw a legit team's fans rush the field?
Posted on 7/23/10 at 1:45 pm to Froman
Never. I'm probably missing one moronic fanbase that did it, but rushing the field is for dramatic events, like being a 60-114 level team, and upsetting a top 3 team at home.

I wonder if you've ever rushed the field at Tiger Stadium?
Back in 2000, I went to the Tennessee game with my mother. She is also an LSU grad. Tennessee was ranked No. 10, and I don't think that LSU was ranked at all. After we won in triple overtime, my mother and I and the rest of the stadium rushed the field. The students took down the goal posts--both of them, I think. That was the only time I've ever stood on the 50 yard line and looked up into the stands. My mother was so happy she was practically in tears.
Every true LSU fan should be so lucky to have a similar experience at least once.
