Now will we win the SEC who knows but we have much better outside shooting and will be more consistent with a year under a lot of the young guys belts. We may be better setup for a Tournament run IMO. Long way I know but very optimistic seeing how athletic we are. We will miss Waters of course but Smart will gill that role and Mays is obviously the leader. I absolutely will not miss the cluster down low passing down to Naz. Good win nice start this team we played is supposed to win the MAC they aren’t a slouch

I’d take Kavell over Naz, honestly.

a big reason i would take naz is because of his passing ability. hitting shooters out of the post is massive

Not to be negative but I don’t see it unless Taylor has made huge strides

This roster at first glance seems too poorly constructed

But we lack a rebounder rim protector like KBW

It would be nice to have one of those

I don’t see it. Need more ball handlers and rim protection.

I don't want to be a debbie downer, and I know Bowling Green is a pretty good mid-major, but after one game, I don't see anything that tells me this team is better than last year's.

Obviously, there is a lot of time to improve, so I'm not necessarily disappointed, I just don't have anything else to go on to tell me otherwise, at the moment.

I agree that it's nice not to have to deal with the clunky, awkward ball handling of Naz underneath, but he and Kavell's size is noticeably missing on the boards. And the ball, as expected, does not move around near as smoothly without Waters.

I don't see a difference in shooting. I just see a difference in how LSU attacks. Doesn't look as fast paced. But the athleticism is through the roof.

I just don't know that this team can compete well enough defensively and on the boards to win as many games as they did last year. We'll see how they progress.

Our best defender and our biggest player are both hurt. When Taylor and Thomas get back the defense and rebounding will change plenty. It’s one game, Wade hasn’t settled a rotation until 1 or 2 games into conference play in either season so far so making snap judgments now is just way, way too soon.

Basketball is really the bastard-step child to Rantards. These same fans will make excuse after excuse for any football or baseball coach but let the basketball team win an opener by fewer than 30 and they melt like there’s no tmrw.

The thing is they have no big men

Which is ok when you consider guard oriented teams can win

But you look at the game tonight and the perimeter players outside of Smart & Mays lack any type of aggression.

Ok, fine, you have some decent tweener type players. But then you realize Watford, Emmitt and Taylor cannot really stretch the floor. They aren’t prototypical big men nor do they have any to play off of like last year. That’s a problem cause they don’t exactly fit. Thought Emmitt brought it tonight but you’re asking a lot of a 6’6” guy to bang like that with no relief over a full schedule

Days’ body looks a lot better coming off last year. Guy is basically a set shooter tho. That has value but still leaves the team with only two true creators.

Also once we were I. The Bonus they were fouling almost every drive.
How often did we actually get to play offense?

This team will win a few games they aren't supposed to win, and lose a few they shouldn't lose, based on being hot or cold from the three.

Doubt they win the SEC, and are seeded as high as last season. Not because they suck at all, but because you just simply can't make up for the lack of size. Not being able to replace Bigby is going to be the down side of this team.

I still think they will make the NCAA tourney, but they will likely take an understandable step back because Wade's hands were tied a bit in recruiting. I expect this to be the worst Will Wade team we see at LSU, and I mean that in a good way, not a bad.

Slow your roll gentlemen.

This team will have a good season and should slip into NCAA Tourney, but they are not as good as last year.

They will be streaky.

And I love Will Wade. Not a hater.

Mays is a great ball-handler and Smart almost beat Tennessee by himself last year when Waters was out taking Tennessee's players to the hoop almost at will with everything on the line. We'll be good there. The rim protection will need help though.

Boy, that is rich. Nearly everything you post is negative; especially when it comes to basketball.

Not having a rim protector is a huge problem
