I've got to agree people are idiots.I felt terrible for the young man because I know he has the tools. This doesn't change the facts that his performance wasn't what we needed. I'm not ready to crown Etling but if he doesn't grow into a capable QB we could be in trouble.
are* in trouble

His confidence is obviously in the tank. Blame it on Miles, him, whoever. He needs to grow up and accept it as a challenge to get better. I know how old he is but the sooner he moves forward, the better.

Harris simply doesn't have it between the ears to be QB at a high level. He's anxious and confused unless he's chucking a 9 route down the field at no one in particular. Add to that the fact that he has the dumbest head coach in div 1 CFB "coaching him up" and its a recipe for failure. Move him to slot receiver or sign the kids papers and let him transfer unconditionally to wherever he wants

You right Shorty, he seems like a good kid. We as fans should be supportive but this is the big leagues man.

Quite a blow to a young man who seems to have lost (I hope) his starting position.

Only at LSU would people "hope" the starter is benched for a guy who went 6/14.

I feel sorry for the kid. From watching him last night you can see that his mechanics are not right. I have no way of knowing if that is on him for not doing what he is coached to do or if he is not getting the coaching he needs. Regardless, he isn't getting it done and needs to sit until he can get it together - if ever.

haven't really seen a lot of bashing of Harris,

He was called a piece of shite at least 20 times last night.

His play should be criticized.

Because the guy who went 6/14 should have been the starter in the first place. Look, I don't blame either of them. I blame miles, but Harris just shouldn't be in there.

Etling brought a spark. I hope it continues and I support his play.

However, the individual performances are very similar. People are lauding Etling for checking down when Harris has done the same thing. They both forced passes. They both had accuracy issues. They both under threw deep balls. Etling is the new, shiny toy so he gets a pass apparently.

Hell, there is a thread on this board saying Etling knows the playbook better. That is impossible to tell because the actual plays are no different than what they ask Harris to run. People really want Etling to be better, I get it. I appreciate the optimism.

I think the second half (when we went back to the standard/conservative LSU passing attack) is very telling. It is difficult for QBs succeed in that scheme.

If I could upvote this more than once, I would. Why go super conservative at all? The offense is moving the ball at will. Stick with what works! What's so difficult about that??

Against someone who has been in the system for three years? You're damn right he does.

Hopefully we've turned the page on this Brandon Harris experience and we can move on. Fwiw, he's had every opportunity to come in and play well. He didn't so he was yanked.

I wish it would stop.

I see memes making fun of Harris losing his job from LSU fans. What kind of bitter shite is that? That's absurd.

Also, people questioning Harris' character because he may have looked upset (at times) on the sidelines.. but yet Etling said he was very supportive during the game to him..

As long as we're being honest and objective I don't really care. You and I know damn well people would be calling for Harris's head if he was 6/14. No doubt in my mind.

When the back up does it I'm supposed to want him as the starter now?

Best thing to ever happen to Etling was that 5 of those completions came in a row and it is all people remember.

You also need to remember that a couple of those incompletions you're so hung on were the fault of Dupre being charmin soft with rock hands. Etling's first game action in this horrible system and he'll actually get a week of reps now hopefully

Coaches are paid to win games....lots of games. Les Miles is well paid.....very well. Collegiate football today has some great coaches. You have top tier coaches like Saban and Fisher, then you have the also rans like Les Miles.

Les Miles is a super guy, but his problem is he can't make the necessary changes when its clear he needs to. Case in point. I mean based on what I saw last night, Etling is a better game manager than Harris. At least right now. During the game last night, at one point I actually hollered, "Finally some intermediate pass completions". And completions to a tight end for pete sake. I mean you could see that JSU defense spread out. Then the OL was able to do a better job creating holes for Guice et al to run through.

So I believe Miles blew the Wisconsin game because he would not pull Harris out and put Etling in. I mean you could see Wisconsin stack the box time and time again. Finally got Fournette hurt. Fournette is a great back, but it's insane to keep throwing him into that stacked line. When it was evident Harris could not pass effectively, Wisconsin just zeroed in on Fournette and Harris. Then there was the complete meltdown. Wasn't pretty.

I have no doubt Brandon Harris is a great young man, but he has struggled. Bottom line in the SEC there is very little wiggle room. Every game is critical. Hopefully he (Harris) can collect himself and improve. I hope so. No doubt Harris is a gifted athlete. Bottom line Miles is paid to win games......lots of games, especially the big big ones.....like Alabama.
