When Wade was fired my reaction was ok let’s go hire a good coach. What people are mad about is the McMahon hire,

IMO,this is the biggest issue for most of people being labeled as WW lovers . If we had hired a better coach most of the griping goes away.

The anger should be directed towards the gestapo bastards (NCAA)

They are answer to no one. They don't have to lay out a case, they don't have any oversight, and they pass judgement on their on appeals.

IMO college presidents should've gotten together and tried to force some type of impartial arbitration for the appealing of ncaa rulings.
Maybe ncaa rulings affect only a few programs that they don't see it as a problem but you never need a lawyer on your side until you meet a lawyer on your side.

Those who promulgate such a talking point are truly idiots. I can’t for the life of me understand how that line of thought has continued to fester.

While I agree with you, no one really knows who expressed interest in the job last spring.

And he did...I wonder if this would be the case if Wade was his hand-picked guy, though

What do you think of FDR starting social security to stave of the communists? I mean...since we're talking about historic strategic moves.

What was the tourney record?

Wade's NCAA Tournament record at LSU (games he coached) is 1-1 (2021 tournament)

LSU went 3-3 in the NCAA Tournament in the 5 years Wade was LSU's coach

Those facts aside, I'm not quite sure what kind of argument you are trying to make here. But for the 2020 tournament being canceled, LSU would have made the NCAA Tournament in 4 straight seasons. The first time that would have happened since 90-93. That streak seemed likely to continue had Wade remained the coach for this season.

The "he wasn't a good coach" mantra is frankly just ridiculous. As is the "he was only good because he paid players". EVERYONE he was competing against paid players.

On the flip side he wasn't the best coach in the country. Or even the SEC. What Wade represented was the first consistent period of success LSU basketball had in nearly 30 years. And at age 40, there was reason to believe that period could extend for decades, with the hope he could fix some of the shortcomings that may be holding LSU back from championship level success.

That's over now. (Hopefully) we will soon find out if his firing was truly justified or not (i.e. we'll see what type of sanctions he and LSU get, if any)

While we can bicker back and forth the merits of Wade's coaching ability, the current reality is LSU is the worst program in the SEC right now under a head coach that seems to be going nowhere. NOTHING McMahon did this season inspires any sense of confidence or optimism for the future. He fell woefully short of meeting the lowest expectations in the program in 6 years. His recruiting (at the current date) is reasonably worrisome. His public approach with respect to the program is uninspiring.

I'm hopeful, just like every LSU basketball fan should be, that this season was a huge wake up call and that he will pull a complete 180 in terms of EVERYTHING in his approach to get LSU started back on the right track. But if I am being completely honest, my confidence level that will happen is very low. I've seen MORE than enough bad basketball (far more bad than good) to recognize the signs of what it looks like. Sadly, those signs were glaringly present this season.

Including WW. These are allegations. You know what that word means, right?

Allegations in this case means it hasn’t been proven in court, he was on tape and they have some evidence it wasn’t just made up to smear LSU.

You can sit here and whine we shouldn’t have fired Wade but Woodwards other hires: Kelly won the SECW year 1 of rebuild, Mulkey is a 3 seed (probably should be a 2 and Johnson has the #1 in the country so trying to trash him makes you look petty and stupid

Scott didn't have to fire Wade!!!!

He chose to fire Wade.

I just got off the phone with a big time LSU donor who 100% said Scott Woodward is a control FREAK!!!!

Wade was not a Scott hire. Out the big 3 (football, baseball, basketball), Wade was the only carry over!!

Scott dropped the ball on this one and no one else!!!! He is responsible for the shite show that is now LSU basketball!!!!!!

Wade was fired because of his actions.

You act like Scott decided to get rid of him for NO reason.

Woodward chose to fire him. He could have chosen to hang on and just ride out any potential one season postseason ban that may have come our way. But he didn’t. He thought he could do better. He thought “well in football here at LSU we could go get who we wanted, so I’m sure it’s the same for basketball.”

Instead he paid a guy more money than Will Wade to come in a go DFL in the SEC.

Woodward whiffed.

It's much easier to believe this than accept the truth that Wade got fired because he lied to his boss and left him in an indefensible position.

It seems as though some people don’t really understand the seriousness of having five, not one or two or three but five, level 1 violations facing the basketball program and LSU. That’s not even considering the lesser charges against LSU.

There was no way Wade was going to survive this. As soon as the allegations were formalized and LSU was notified of them, he was toast.

I like Wade. I thought he was a good young coach, but shite. There’s only so much a coach can be allowed to get away with before you say enough.

The only proof the NCAA has of anything is him being black mailed by a VCU’s player’s girl friend.
