But no. I haven’t learned any players names since 2020 because it’s hard to get invested when they are basically year by year mercenaries now.
It is what it is. Just being honest. Our enjoyment of CFB has fallen bigly and continues to fall with all the changes. Mostly now I just watch old games from the BCS era on Saturdays.
Players have always cycled out quickly in CFB. Now some just cycle out quicker. Hell, even before the transfer rules changed, college players often cycled out quicker than NFL players, or at least the same.
To each their own, but I've never been a fan of the "players", per se. That is I am a fan of LSU and, by proxy, whoever is playing for the team that particular year. Once the player moves on I'm not really a "fan" of his anymore, and my fanhood is not tied to the individual players. The roster has always changed year to year. The program is the constant. NIL/transfer portal didn't change that.
Now, that's probably a different story in basketball where it's no uncommon for programs to turn over almost their entire roster (sometimes the entire roster) from year to year.

I think each is better in certain situations, which is the reason both play so much. It's good to have the problam of figuring out which is the best of 2 pretty good linebackers.
It was sad that we had to sit Beckwith so much and play Welker because KB wouldn't play the poisition and would just run to the ball causing massive holes for the offense. Welker was very technically sound, but wasn't even close to SEC talent. It was a tought situation for the coaches and fortunatily KB started listening to the coaches and became a really good linebacker.

What I have taken away from this thread from a quick cursory review:
-West Weeks has attempted sodomy to or against Lane Kiffin at some point in the past or will attempt at some point in the future

Majority of downvotes probably got confused between Whit & West
I agree. I don’t think we lose much by playing our backup against Ole Miss. no need to force it, we need him later in the season

So you think Weeks is weak. The only thing about your post this week is it’s weak.

My fandom of LSU is still there. I just don’t bother getting to know the players anymore.
