re: I think 2013 team will be better than 2012 team, even with defections...

Chicken has evidently lost what little of his mind was left. The depth chart isn't our biggest worry. It is the fact that Miles still has the headset and Mettenberger has the keys to the offense.

There is enough talent on offense to make some noise
Defense should be good on scheme alone
The one bright spot about some of the early draft entries is that they weren't really that great anyway. Ford and Ware aren't really an upgrade over Hill and Blue assuming they can both stay healthy.
The young guys in the secondary do have some experience now and Loston staying helps. Reid will be missed but we churn out All American safeties like it's nothing. Martin could potentially pick up where we left off with Reid (and Reid had a better 2011 than 2012 IMO)

No it won't. How can you objectively say that? It'll still be really good, but not better. Depth is every bit as important as the starting eleven.
Now, if we can get some damn playcalling (I know, right?) and stay healthy on the offensive line, maybe somewhere out there you can find hope that the offense will be way better.

O line solidarity will be a key. ZM will be even better...I had a great conversation about this exact subject with ZM's granddad while he was waiting in an airport last month. Good things ahead if players don't fall apart and get distracted (no suprise there). In the end, you have to 'boil out the impurities' to get a better product sometimes...So be it.

If Miles gives a mobile QB some significant playing time, next year's team could be poised for the playoff in 2014.
Logan, Minter, and Simon, along with both DE's is just too much transition. Logan will be missed the most.
Too difficult of a schedule to expect next year's team to outperform this year's team, unless we see radical changes in the QB position and offensive philosophy.
It could happen, but I don't have any unrealistic expectations, for sure. I was making four road trips next year (Dallas, Georgia, Alabama, and Miss St.), and I cancelled all of them.
Nothing to do with LSU, everything to do with the SEC offices.

Our LBs should be better with Alexander, Barrow, both Jones like he said as long as someone is CLOSe to Minter's production.
Our secondary will most certainly be better. Lots of experience gained this year. Mills will be a better corner in 2013 than Simon was in 2012. Ronald Martin will also be good.
The only issue is the depth on the DL. The starting DL could be damn good. As long as couple youngsters step up on the DL, the DL could have good depth as well.
This defense certainly has a chance to be as good or better than 2012.

Yeah, I'm not as concerned as most about the defections. We have talented guys to step. I was more optimistic about the offense before the CFA Bowl, but I think with a whole off season to get ready, the OL should be better along with Mettenberger.

I don't think Simon will be missed at all...cornerback position should be better with the Jalen's having a year of experience.
D-Line wasn't great this year, if Freak is ready to be a force he should offset Logan. Experience at end is certainly an issue. The key will be someone stepping up to be the "QB" of the defense.

He got double dog dared to make this thread by somebody. I'm guessing it was Tiger Fred who put him up to this.
EDIT: It will certainly make an interesting reference point to bookmark and come back to later though.

I don't think so, we flip at UF and USCe for UF and at UGA, kind of a wash. Auburn and Arky can't help but be better, but we get those at home. I think it will be similar to last year.

Seriously? Transition period due to lack of experience in some areas, several spots not even determined who the starter will be, a hit in depth on the D-line (where depth is most important) and a question mark in pass rushers after Rascoe.
Like I said, it'll still be really good and talented, but better? As specially right at the beginning?
Come on.

I agree we took some hits on defense. But we had much less experience see significant playing time in 2012 than will happen in 2013. We played A LOT of freshman this year on defense. That will only help us for the next couple of years.

There is no way to tell this. I said it certainly has the chance to be as good or better. You never know how a defense will gel together, who will take over as a leader, which freshman will step up and be a stud. Will they be as NFL ready? Hell no. But do they have potential to play better on the field? Sure.

Ya know, Yardbird, I actually agree with you
