Once we didn't do that, I figured the best chance for Aranda to eventually be LSU's head coach was for him to leave and spend a couple of years as a head coach at a lesser program, but now that is out because of Aranda's decision to stick around and because the O Era is looking like it is going to be too short for anyone to actually have a coaching career at another school. It might have been a blessing for him to spend a year at A&M as it would have allowed him to add something new to his resume and would only accelerate the end of the current regime. Instead, LSU is definitely going to F it up and the LSU/Aranda relationship will end on a sour note.

Not necessarily. I can see a scenario where LSU loses 6 low scoring games next year and Orgeron is fired because of the bed that he made on offense. If this occurs one could speculate that Aranda could still be coveted and made head coach.

When Miles was fired, I said that Aranda would be the BEST CANDIDATE LSU had....

Student of the Game, and Dave Aranda's of the world are far and few.... I thought it would've been too early to have aranda as HC, but Hell they gave it to O, i'd like to have wondered What If.....

You speak as if Aranda was a Longtime Miles guy (1.5yrs hardly a holdover from Miles, but more of the only shiny trinket Miles had)

how long will this be the case when 2/3 of your most important coaching position aren't qualified to hold their positions?

Can people learn to relax and just support the program?

It’s not our job to worry and bitch.

I find it funny how "LSU" fans just have to find shite to be miserable about. Catastrophe Syndrome is a hell of a deal.

LSU is putting together a hell of a coaching and analysis staff. They are building not only talent but depth on the lines.

What happens? The lunatic fringe makes shite up and freaks out and goes into total meltdown over their made-up bullshite.

I still can't believe this site is free. The entertainment value here is virtually priceless.

MELT ON BROTHERS !!!! There has to be a lot more stuff to predict and melt about. How about the next analyst hire !!!

It's not impossible, I just think it is very unlikely.

I'd say the following are all more likely than your scenario:
- Wheels completely fall off and nothing associated with the Orgeron regime survives
- Team gets just enough wins that LSU decides to give Orgeron another year
- Your scenario of 6 low-scoring losses, except that LSU learns all the wrong lessons from the last hire and decides that the only problem was promoting from within (and not that everyone involved is a fricking moron) and does not give Aranda serious consideration.
- Orgeron has a great season (yea, I know...but I STILL think we're more likely to see an O-coached playoff contender than see Aranda named the next head coach).

That's what makes the Orgeron hire so impressive...it's very rare to watch in real time, without even needing the benefit of hindsight, as one single coaching hire manages to frick up both that hire AND the next hire at the same time.

When your entire organization is disfunctional from the BOS, President and AD on down to the head coach. Does it matter that any coach is retained or let go? No. This whole thing has to explode for any of that matter.
So you can talk all day as if we have a football program that is of note but the facts say we don't.

Part of me wonders if promoting Aranda is even the right decision. Look, I think the guy is one of the best defensive minds in football, but he is a holdover from Miles and O.
You aren't seeing the big picture if Aranda isn't promoted.
Unless he's included in the house cleaning, another hire is left up to Joe.

Too many weak minded people hoping bad things happen to the program just so you can say I told you so. GTFOH. No changes are being made before the season so the amount of bitching in here is pointless. Revisit the bitching if the teams loses games next year.

Kick the sht up then when something can and should be done about it. Not now when we should be letting the players know they have fans that support them since they chose to play here and could have gone to one of the schools you hate.

Hey bud... this is a forum. discussing the LSU football program is the primary use of this site. You probably wouldn't even check in if all the threads were "go tigers" and "support our team". As LSU fans we all want long term success for the program. Most here believe that the collection of clowns that have been hired (minus Aranda) will not bring us continued success. We all want LSU to win on gameday but hoping and praying probably won't be sufficient.

with the state of things since 2011, it defies belief that we got something so right in Aranda. its an absolute gift, hes the smartest coach LSU football has had since saban. as a pure DC i think hes actually better.

my worry is that after orgeron, people will want to clean house.

instead of making him HC, we will sit here for the next two years watching the program decline further and further, because thats what we're set up for, and he'll either leave out of frustration or because people will just say frick it.

and that will happen because we're LSU. our own worst enemy.

unleashed and we could be like UGA right now, but shooting ourselves in the foot is what we do best. wasting potential has practically become our trademark.

being tainted would happen to weaker minds. Your 'normal' coaches I can see that being the case. Aranda is neither a weak mind or your 'normal' coach.

Simply put: Losing Aranda would be a disaster. He's one of the few positives left that we can cling to.
