Don’t forget Barry Bonds.

The term “5 tool player” is somehow simultaneously overused and too highly regarded at the same time. There are all kinds of stats out there that will tell you that there are only like 9-10 true 5 tool players in the MLB, and that Mike Trout, unequivocally the best player in the league, is only a 3 tool player bc of his fielding percentage and above average strike out rate.

Shits dumb. Dylan and Todd, May not be “5 tool players” by every objective and statistical standard (I’d argue Dylan is the closest thing you’ll see as a prospect).

However they both have enough speed (Dylan faster), good enough arms and gloves (Dylan better arm and glove), great hitting average and power (Dylan more power).

Point is that who gives a shite who is a “5 tool player” when the best player in the game over the last decade is just a “3 tool” guy?

Also, as unavoidable and fun as this argument can be, why even get so worked up about it. Both players have been tremendous players, people and ambassadors for our school. Todd promotes lsu every chance he gets and Dylan is proving to be one of those guys that just gets it with his latest actions with the kids on Tuesday night.

Different positions with a lot less opportunities. Walker turned about 130 DPs and these freaking people want to compare the 2. Then the shitty score keeping today is FAR more lenient than years ago.

You do now Walker had a higher OPS than Crews, right?
So your “power” argument is just untrue.
Walker hit 22 HRs his sophomore season and 18 his Junior as a point of reference. Just keeping it real.

As good as Todd Walker was, Josh Booty was drafted higher.

This will not happen with Dylan Crews. Josh Booty will not be drafted before him.

What Walker did in the World Series seres him apart, but Crews could do the same.

A totally different time though. You can’t just compare raw stats when the game had changed so much. Crews is putting up those numbers as well.

Yea, but Nolan Ryan threw 95 on his last pitch. What’s your point?

Joey Belle was a 5 tool guy. 8 straight years with 30 and 100. With 20 sb a year and a freakin cannon for an arm. Crews can’t do that even if he would roid up. NO SHOT

First, how can you look at Crews now and draw such unfounded conclusions?
Second, Albert wasn't known for his arm and only had 20+ SBs once in MLB.

Crews is better than Belle in every way right now.

Do people not understand that 5 tool means

Speed
Hitting for contact
Hitting for power
Fielding
Arm strength

TW wasnt a 5 tool player. More like 3. But that doesnt take away from his greatness

98. My point is you have zero argument about anything I’ve typed in this thread. While pitchers “throw harder”, most throw for 2 innings and the ones that throw for more than 5 with any velocity are few and far between. People COULD throw harder didn’t with the few exceptions.

Ryan was the fastest of the fast and this kid from Tenn is not as fast as him…

Should be 102 RBIs in '93.

He also had 17 doubles and 11 triples in '93.

Dude was amazing.

Well apparently you either can’t read, don’t have good reading comprehension (due to your dementia), or you are just dead set on arguing something that just doesn’t matter, as was said in my post.

Both have been great players for lsu. I’m not going to get into glove arguments bc as you said, different positions, so can’t compare easily.

However, if you think that Todd Walker’s power is on par with Dylan’s then neither I, nor anyone here can help you. Numbers of home runs is only half the story. Dylan will likely end up with more anyway, so you’ll be wrong in that regard at some point. But, today, we are watching a man hit bomb after bomb and each one is 430-450 ft. That’s insane, elite level power. Maybe you aren’t watching though, which would explain how you are just so wrong.
