I like to stir the pot, but the offense looked pretty good once they pushed the deep ball

You could start to see the offense getting more and more boxed in the longer it took for LSU to prove it could gash them downfield consistently. Honestly, felt like the offense last year when JD and Denbrock didn't fully trust themselves with the deep and middle-of-the-field balls.

I think Nuss, maybe even the OCs, were wound up. ONce they relaxed they were good.

The passing game isnt worrisome, the running game needs quite a bit of work.

I'd love to see a pretty balanced attack. Hopefully one of the RBs steps up and becomes the guy. Feels like it's been forever since we've had a truly dominant running back

Posted in another thread, but Gordy said on the postgame that Wisconsin opened the game in an “umbrella” coverage, bracketing both Malik and BTJ. They were determined to not get beat deep to start the game. Hence, so many check downs and short throws early on.

I really wanted to see more Diggs and more Jackson in that game.

They were saying that during the broadcast. Alot of 2 high safety with zone under. They switched to man under on the TD play. I even remarked during the play that Garrett must have recognized it immediately because as soon as the receiver got even with the DB, he threw the ball and he knew he had it. Good recognition on his part.

Jackson must suck at picking up his blocking assignments or remembering plays or something, because he is clearly the most talented runner we have seen and barely touches the ball.

This was Nuss running JD's offense. Nuss needs a lot more contribution from the RBs going forward. Nuss is not a runner but he is quick in the pocket and always looking down field. Going forward he may have to run the ball a little to keep the LBs honest.

Nuss will need to learn to take the wide open 10 yard run at times to keep the defense honest (especially on some 3rd downs). This is necessary against the stud defenses of the SEC ( BAMA, Georgia, Missouri). Nuss needs to learn to hit the check down receiver when appropriate. Nuss has the tools to be great.

How is that stirring the pot?

My only complaint is making judgement calls on strategic situations. If you are on third and short and you have a WR open past the 1st, stop looking for (or even trying to force)the big play down field and keep the drive going.

Nuss is going to be great. Not a single player in college football would want to follow Jayden. He played well.

I find my self wondering if early on they were a little too preoccupied with getting Malik his record rather than just running the offense. Seems like once Malik left the game, the offense started moving.

Well yeah. I was wondering why we weren’t using Nuss’s arm.

Glad they finally got back to it.

We saw some good things. Now we’ve got all spring practice and fall camp to work on it but this offense needs to be more vertical and attack downfield. Nuss has the arm for it. We don’t want to become a dink and dunk offense.

I noticed on one pass play he was involved with, he occupied the same area as the WR who was going to get the ball and it blew the play up. He’ll learn. Modern offenses aren't young running back-friendly.

It also being Nuss’ first start, I think they wanted to ensure the pass pro was clean. 45 dropbacks zero sacks.
