If Miles won with Saban's players, it stands to reason that Saban won with DiNardo's here and Shula's at Bama.
All three statements are false, but if the first is true the second two are just as true.
But I have grown to not expect that level of thinking for rantards.

They are, or they're

but to your point, no shite they are ignoring my post now....they have been proven significantly wrong on this argument.

I am quick to give them credit as well, assuming they will gain perspective and wisdom one day. But, for now, that is what they are, kids that know it all...for the most part.

But, but ...

Miles definitely benefited from Saban's recruits. But according to a lot of the same guys who say he won with Saban's recruits, he can't coach because he has top 5 talent at all times (which is a downgrade from the oft repeated "most talent") and doesn't win an NC every year. Which is kind of self defeating logic, isn't it?

Or implying that Saban won less with his players?
Saban overall at LSU: .750
Saban with only Saban's players at LSU: .750
Miles with Saban's players: .850
Miles without Saban's players at LSU: .765

I'm implying nothing. I'm only providing the numbers and inviting you to do whatever you will with them.

At 4.4 million, he better lead the way or be damn close.

Pay for performance.

How about you update the numbers for the last 7 years when Miles had to play eith nothing but HIS recruits.

Welp...you got me there man......he averaged a #9 ranking with Saban's recruits, but only a #11 ranking since then. Clearly, Miles can perform better with the type of players that Saban recruits.....but, now answer me this.....did Miles perform better with Saban's recruits, than Saban performed with his own recruits.....also, let's compare the last 3 years currently for the decline, compared to Saban's last 3 years at LSU?

How about this: While coaching Saban's players his average finish his first three years was 3. His average the remaining 6: 14

How about this, Saban's last 3 years at LSU, he averaged a final AP ranking of 14......Miles first three seasons at LSU he averaged a ranking of 3......so did Miles perform better with Saban's players than Saban performed with his own players?

Also, during this decline, Les has averaged a ranking of 10 over the last three season....again, compared to saban's final three years of a 14......LOL....anyway you slice it....Miles did better at LSU.....period.

yes, because no other team is paying their coach a boat load right? It is fricking amazing to me. You guys fail to realize other programs are just as fanatic, recruit just as well, and pay their coaches as much or more....yet only LSU should win it all right.....ignorance at its best.

Coker had a better winning percentage at The U than Miles has at LSU. And he got run off.

Just saying - for all those #s are everything arguments, there is always an outlier. And yes I know there were other things going on at the U that factored in.

heck, if we are ranked #3 now, with a better coach than miles, we would be ranked as high as #-3. !!

huh? is that right? am i doing this right?

p.s. i understand these are not kids that don't understand that miles is #3. you have to drink a lot more than an alcoholic to discount miles!
and that is guys way over 30!

It went exactly the way I wanted it to go. I expected the kids to jump in with guns blazing.....I also expected them to not do their homework on the matter........truth is, the ones doing the bashing to start with....kind of disappeared when the facts were laid out there. Guess they didn't want to see the reality of it....and they were too young to remember when Saban was actually here.

Top 5 talent that finishes outside the top 5, is underperforming

LSU's 9 classes signed under Miles average ranking is #7.

Only three top 5 classes in those 9 years.

So that's top 10 talent.

The success Miles has had is a result of very good recruiting, which IS very important.
The relative success of the program is DESPITE the coaching, not because of it.
Could have been much greater with better coaching.

There are lies, damn lies, and statistics. That was my point in bringing up Saban's recruits. Some are slavishly blind to CLM's 'record' and are willing to ignore the palpable issues on this team, and the signs of it we've seen over the past few years.

Personally, I could'nt give two &^$% about Saban. I think he's a transformative coach, but only b/c he can out recruit others. You saw what parity of talent did to him in the NFL. But I digress...

CLM is a great man. Personally have tons of respect for him. As an evaluator of personnel, I look at him and think he's underperforming. I'm not impressed with his wins against cup cakes. And I'm not impressed when he steals a win from the jaws of a loss where the game should not have been close. His style is stale and needs a refresh.

Here's hoping he can do it with BH. I hope he figures it out before there is a mutiny.

So it looks like Saban is a better recruiter but Miles is a better coach?

Or maybe they are both good coaches and good recruiters?
