Yeah it was obvious the lack of passing game was going to hold us back from being a true NC contender. It wasn’t always obvious why the passing game was so bad. Scheme? QB talent? Even more confusing bc Les had no issues slinging the ball his first few seasons here. The 2007 offense was the most fun lsu offense to date.

You ever see what those chemicals they put on the grass he eats are composed of?

The problem was he couldn't recruit top-level QB to play in a system that wasn't what they would see in the NFL.

His system was built for QB play for the 1920s when they threw the ball 5 times a game.

There were tons of less talented QBs blow up in CFB than the ones that were at LSU over Les's tenure.

The offense he used was simply too stuffy and completely unfit for a passing attack.

It’s funny that Clemson game was sort of reminiscent of how a Les miles lsu team would have played a team like Clemson in the road game 1. Elite defense coaching mistakes that could have cost them the game (granted better QB play the other night). Only difference was if it were Les coaching us Clemson would have probably scored the game tying TD and missed the extra point lol.

Moments after Athletics Director Joe Alleva announced Miles would remain LSU’s coach, Miles said he made a “commitment” to Alleva to fix the Tigers’ offense. “The issue is we have to find the recipe that allows that to happen because we have talent,” Miles said about the offense. “I promise you this: We’ve recruited well, and there’s some really, really good kids here and good people.”

He should have been the Lee Courso replacement instead of going to Kansas. That goofy quirkiness would have been awesome on college gameday.

He was told by his boss, the A.D., that he had to make changes in his offense. Then he took 30K+ fans with him to a dream game in Lambeau Field & first snap,,, there was Fournette lined up in the I; one yard gained off tackle. Then again. etc etc etc That's either stupid, ignoring his boss, or just super stubborn.
In November 2015, some LSU fans wishcasted that Miles was changing the offense. What he said specifically, however, was that LSU would continue to lean on its strong running game:
quote:

"There's not a serious overhaul (to be done) because the motor seems to be pretty stinking strong," Miles asserted. "Do we want to consider change? You betcha'."
Miles had a choice between leaning on a weak QB room (Brandon Harris and Danny Etling) and a weak WR room (Malachi Dupre, D.J. Chark, and Travin Dural) or an historic RB room (Leonard Fournette, Derrius Guice, et al.). It did not take much time to consider change.

LSU lost the Wisconsin game in Wisconsin by two points to a team that went to the Big 10 Championship game. Brandon Harris was 12 for 21 with two picks. Harris was NOT good, and Danny Etling had never thrown a pass for LSU before 2016.

No.

This is wrong.

He never publicly promised change.

He said he would consider change:
quote:

"There's not a serious overhaul (to be done) because the motor seems to be pretty stinking strong," Miles asserted. "Do we want to consider change? You betcha'."

“When we had passers, we threw it,” Miles said. “When we had guys that could not throw the ball well, that ... couldn't process under the heat of the game, we ran the football and won 10 a year.”

I truly believe if he changed with the times on offense he would still be here

And LSU would've had several more NC’s

Les always had solid defenses, special teams, and running games...his achilles heel was always passing / QB play. I've said for years that Les had a Ferrari but on race day he changed out one of the tires with that stupid skinny arse spare from a clapped out Kia. It was painfully obvious what held his teams back, and Les was the only one that didn't see it.
