lol

He was very good during and after the Fresno State game. Before that, he was too inconsistent for the offense ever to find a rhythm.

Flynn was so good he made Crowton's offense work.

You have no facts to back your claim that he was lazy in college, or didn't put in the work

if that appeared to be my claim I apologize. My point is he got away with a lot of stuff in college because of his arm. The dude that tutored him before the draft said he told JR, "you're going to have to become a QB because your arm isn't going to bail you out in the NFL." (paraphrasing)

Better yet, it was 4 complete packages full of plays.

sarcasm?

iirc, Jimbo said JR had multiple reads on each play. It was a common point of debate throughout his time at LSU that he was only allowed to check to a running play. (which is what most college qb's are allowed to do unless there is an obvious hot read)

It's post like this that made me lurk for 5 years. You can't be serious. If you truly believe this statement, YOU DON'T KNOW FOOTBALL.

Jamarcus had more potential than anyone who has ever played QB at LSU. Once he got all that money, he lacked the work ethic and drive to carry through. Flynn was always a gamer. I am very happy for him. I hope he gets a fat contract with a good team. I hope that his agent deals with a winning program.

I said it several times for a few years and was raked over the coals relentlessly.

Boy was I wrong on that one.
I wasnt wrong, because I defined "good" not as "raw talent", but good as in understanding how to play the game, be a leader and make those around you better.

JR did not know how to do that, and that ultimately was his downfall. But anyone with any sense could see the train wreck coming. People like SFP and Hot Carl would be enamored by the raw talent, but have the inability to see the bad. and recognize it.

Newsflash. Jimbo isn't going to say anything bad about one of his former players or current players.

LSU goes 14-0 with JR in 2007.

LSU lost both KY and Arky games with bad defense, not a bad offense.

Flynn was terrible in the 2nd half against Kentucky and the 1st half against Arkansas.

He was inconsistent because we had the toughest schedule in LSU history. He was clutch ever since he got here. Oregon State and Iowa in 2004 come to mind.

Sure, but he didnt just say JR isnt stupid. He went into specifics about how much football knowledge he was able to handle and the types of reads he was able to make. He didnt have to say that stuff. He could have said any number of things in a coach speak sorta way, but he didnt.

Jmarc '06 - 232-342 67.8% 3,129yds 28TDs 8INT
Flynn '07 - 202-359 56.3% 2,407yds 21TDs 11INT

Jmarcs '06 team lost to two top 10 teams on the road, one of which went on to win it all.

Flynn lost to two teams who finished the season outside the top 25.

Jmarc got Buster Davis drafted in the 1st round.

“I never knew that guy,” Fisher said on ESPN 760, talking about the lazy player Russell has become. “His work ethic for us — everything I ever asked him to do, he did. He was smart, he carried three and four play packages at the line of scrimmage.”

“He is very talented and he is very intelligent,” Fisher said. “Intelligence isn’t an issue with him.”

Based on the pre-draft reports we remember, Russell’s football smarts were never a question.

JJ/JL threads were getting boring so the Rant had to bring in a classic.

Also are LSU fans the only people who could think the QB with the completion % 10+ points lower is the smart accurate one?

Better receiving corps in '06 and third year playing vs 1st year playing. Apples and tangerines.

Nope. He was inconsistent because he is JR.

Epic fail on your part. Two years of mediocrity and two pathetic games in his "great" season prove you wrong.

Flynn had Doucet, Byrd, Lafell and Dickson.

So specifically in what way was Matt Flynn a better college QB than Jamarcus Russel? The only thing anyone has said is Flynns performance today and that JR is stupid, which all evidence suggests otherwise.
