frickin classic. Says all you need to know about how poor the offensive production has been this year.

Ah, another poster who never played quarterback and chimes in as a kid with nothing but a vulgar mouth who wasn't raised by parents who loved him. Thanks for your contribution.

shitshow? LSU has a very good chance of making a ny6 bowl and an outside shot at the playoffs. Some of you people are amazing.

The shite show on offense is what we're discussing. Not the team as a whole.

Why don’t you give some actual proof that you played QB? You know like where you played, how long you played for, if you actually got to play at all, and some tracible stats to backup your comments. And how about your actual name so people can look up your so called accomplishments. Otherwise you are no more than another keyboard warrior making up some bullshite to prop yourself up. Because to me you sound like nothing more than a loser on the internet trying to make it seem like you actually know something when it’s pretty obvious you’re just spouting off your opinion like everybody else.

Okay. Played quarterback at Bastrop High. We lost one game my senior year, to Neville. Lost our first playoff game to Captain Shreve.

The next day, I went on my recruiting visit to LSU. It was the first Notre Dame visit to LSU. Brad Davis was my host. Ate the pregame meal with the team. We had a choice of pasta, pancakes or steak. I chose steak.

We went into the meeting room and watched a highlight film of the previous season, then to the locker room to meet players. Art Cantrelle was getting taped, and I remember his voice being higher than I expected.

At halftime, they ushered us somewhere under the stadium for Cokes and hot dogs. Don Griffin was also on a visit, a quarterback from Baton Rouge, who eventually signed with LSU but transferred to Southeastern.

Near the end of the game, when everything was going crazy, Pop Strange, the director of recruiting, ushered us back to the tunnel so no one would get hurt.

After the game, Brad and some teammates (can't remember who) took me to some fraternity parties. John Fred and the Playboys were playing at one of the houses.

Later on, I talked to Mike Miley at Broussard Hall. He had a strange mark on his forehead. Turns out, he had gotten into a fight at a fraternity house, and the mark was from a frat boy's ring.

Later on, players were sliding up and down the halls in Broussard Hall, which were soaked with water and shaving cream

I had breakfast the next morning with Dave McCarty, who was the offensive line coach. He was from Rayville and recruited my area. He was also a member of the 1958 national championship team.

LSU offered me as a defensive back, but I wanted to play quarterback. A 5' 10" quarterback wasn't what they wanted. I was recruited as a quarterback by Nebraska by Tom Osborne (his last year as an assistant). Loved the school, but the weather was too brutal.

I ended up singing with Southern Miss as a quarterback. Ray Guy was a teammate. Punted, kicked field goals, played safety, pitched on the baseball team.

Alas, I would wind up as a backup safety after a couple of years.

Anything else? Maybe you can fill us on your history now.

So you played QB in what, the 60’s? Did your team run the diamond T offense? Is your name Al Bundy? Seriously you’d be much better off just giving your opinion and not criticizing everyone who disagrees with you because they “never played quarterback”. Your credentials, such as they are, don’t give you the credibility you think they do.

No, we actually threw the ball much more in my day than most did...and I think we were around 1,600 yards and 16 touchdowns. That was a lot for my day.

You told that whole story just to let everybody know you actually did not play QB I’m college. Wow.

As for my experience, played WR and strong safety in high school after playing QB growing up (we ran the triple option at my high school). Did not play any college ball. My father actually did play QB in college at LA Tech, from fall of ‘82-‘85. I learned a TON from him with regards to schemes, how to read a defense pre-snap, protections, how game plans are made, etc.

Just because you played backup safety in college, old man, does not make you any more knowledgeable about the game than anyone else. Take a look at Dave Aranda, Mike Leach, Hugh Freeze, Adam Gase. All of these coaches never played in college and I promise you they have forgotten more about football than you have ever known. Why don’t you get off your high horse and stop being a dick to people who you know pretty much nothing about.

If he was a QB, he knows how to attack defenses. If he played Safety, he understands coverages and how to stop offenses.

Maybe its just me but that seems to be some pretty good knowledge about the game on both sides of the ball

And you know nothing about me other than what I've told you.

Yes, Dave Aranda knows more about football than me. Given his position, I would certainly hope so.

I'm glad you learned the game from your dad. Those are times and memories that can't be reolaced.

Who is your dad? I probably saw him play and remember him. Tech has had some good ones.

Obviously you’re missing my point here. The dude was telling people that they didn’t play QB so they don’t know anything like him without divulging any of his own background. Maybe it’s just me but that seems to be someone spouting off their opinion claiming to be something with the very likely chance that they weren’t because of the anonymity granted by the internet. There is no reason for the guy to be a dick hiding behind a keyboard.

He only played in mop up duty so I highly doubt you would know who he is and I don’t think he would appreciate me putting his name out on this forum. I’m sure you can understand that because you didn’t give yours either. And he has some pretty good stories from then. Terry Bradshaw used to take the QBs to eat once a year so he has some pretty funny ones about him. He was also suite mates with Karl Malone his freshman year. Karl walked by our tailgate last year and stopped to talk to dad for a while. I got to meet him so that was pretty cool.

My favorite is of his first day at Tech. When he arrived Tech had an All American at QB, Matt Dunigan. First day of camp the whole team had to run a certain distance in a certain amount of time based on your position. Well dad hadn’t trained for anything like that all summer, he mainly spent his summer working and drinking with friends. So he came up with a plan. He was going to run step for step with Dunigan and his thinking was if he didn’t make it, I wouldn’t make it and they weren’t going to kick the AA off the team so why would they kick him off as well. He was on scholarship after all. So they ran and he said Dunigan had it timed out perfectly and they came across the line with like 5 seconds to spare. Dad said he passed out as soon as they got done and woke up to the trainer smoking a cig and spraying him with the water hose. The trainer then told him to go get a 6 pack on his way home and he would feel a lot better in the morning which dad always says when he tells people that story, “After that I thought I was in heaven!”

I'm not hiding anything but my social security number. I told you I played at Bastrop and played in a playoff game against Captain Shreve the night before Notre Dame's first visit to LSU.

You learned the game from your dad and he played QB for LA Tech. I think that's great. Who is he? I bet I remember him. They've had some great quarterbacks.

I remember those crazy times tests. We only had to run 2 Mike's in 7 minutes, and I dreaded it all summer. I just couldn't run distances.
