It’s been so long since they’ve been good, that I forgot what it was like to hate them. 17 years of irrelevance turned their fans into loons it seems. Gosh I wish we could beat the shite out of them this year. They just do not understand that Lincoln Riley never has a defense, and you must have a defense if you’re going to win the whole thing. I like to call their conference the Pussy 12. Bunch of soy boys and punks out west.

I hate them so much that I’m rooting for Notre Shame. Welcome back to CFB USC. We’re about to show them who runs this sport now. They certainly don’t anymore.

would love to beat them the same way we bitch slapped Oklahoma in the peach bowl a few years ago. That was glorious. The 2003 split title still pisses me off.

That USC hate has definitely been rekindled this year. Really wish we could’ve played them back in 2003.

Same here. That was such BS. I have to go to Vegas to watch us kick their arse now. Such cocky SOBs. They think this is the Pete Carroll days and before. They’re past their prime. Just like Thug U and Notre Shame. Historic programs who are now irrelevant.

Agreed would’ve been a great game.

I never really understood why LSU fans hate USC for 2003. It wasn’t them that made them the AP #1 team nor was it their fault the BCS chose Oklahoma over them for the national championship after Oklahoma lost.

I get the annoyance with the coverage of them and that’s what I don’t like about the situation. I don’t really hate USC in particular just the media attention they get for doing very little.

there was no "split title" just the BCS title. it's not like they split the trophy in half. one trophy. one title. and it belongs to LSU.

Facts

But would have loved for that 2003 LSU defense to change their program’s history because it certainly would have

I never “hated” USC. Their fans are pretty casual.

I would love to play them and settle it on the field.

I used to hate them with passion. But honestly, I'm kind of glad to see another conference have a pulse again. And having multiple west coast teams become relevant again will help LSU indirectly. Some of our rivals have been having too much success recruiting California.

one trophy.

Actually, there's more than one. The AP awards their own trophy to the team that's #1 in the final AP poll. Since the conclusion of the 1990 season, the AP has annually awarded an individual Associated Press Trophy to the school that finishes No. 1 in the final AP Poll. Prior to that, the AP trophy would get reused each year until one team won it 3 times and it would be retired:

Williams Trophy (1941–1947), retired when it was won for the third time by Notre Dame in 1947.

O'Donnell Trophy (1948–1956), Oklahoma retained permanent possession of the O'Donnell trophy after winning it for the third time in 1956.

Bryant Trophy (1957–1965), retired by Alabama in 1965, upon winning their third AP title in five years.

AP Trophy (1966–1977), retired permanently by Notre Dame following their third win of the trophy.

Bryant Trophy (1978–1989), retired by the University of Miami, which gained permanent possession after their 3 wins in 1983, 1987, and 1989.

And yes, LSU has the AP trophies for 2007 and 2019 in addition to the BCS/CFP trophies.

The AP absolutely gave a title and it carried weight. Ignoring that is just stupid and I am not sure why so many LSU fans insist on doing so.

Whether or not you give it credit or not doesnt change the fact that it was a very real title, very well recognized and legitimate and since the NCAA didn't and doesn't crown a football champion, the rest are just different organizations (BCS, CFP, AP, etc.) all creating their own champion for the rest of people to value on their own.

But it doesnt mean others don't exist just because you choose to not recognize or value it.

Riley literally left Oklahoma bc they were joining the SEC. Kelly came here bc he wanted to be in the SEC. The committee sees this and has learned their lesson with Riley already. If Riley wants in he needs to go undefeated

USC still claims a National Championship for 2003, but I agree it’s about as fake as UCF’s.

I understand. but the BCS trophy was agreed upon before the season started as the actual "championship" trophy.

it wasn't the BCS title. which at the time, before the CFP, was the only recognized title for whatever team claiming a championship at the end of the season.
