re: I don’t understand Bech’s decision

I bet this post may make him reconsider...

Yes they play two different positions. But let’s move beyond your sophomoric analysis. Bech and Taylor are functionally equivalent route runners. Don’t need or want them both in the field at the same time.

1) Our WR room next year is literally 5-7 deep in NFL talent

Taylor played with his hand in the ground inline or in the backfield 60% of his snaps this year. That only leaves him out in the slot or wide 40% of the time. He is primarily a guy playing within the the box.
Bech played 2 of his 236 snaps in the box this season by comparison.
It's very different. If you think a mostly hands down box TE has the equivalent route concept of a true slot WR then you really dont understand football much.

As good as Bech is, he made some costly turnovers this year, so not that upset

He is a very good competitive player, he wants to be the #1 or #2 option on a team, he is not and will not be that at LSU.

These were both on special teams, which he never really should have been on to start with. He was injured and they tried to work him in somewhere where we sucked though.
I think pretty much everyone would agree he shouldnt be returning punts or kicks. We gotta have better guys there or will next season anyways.

And it was only after Nabers fumbled 2 punts vs FSU that were a major part of the loss. The WRs were plagued with drops and other issues early on. The difference for Boutte and Nabers were that they got a shot at redemption. Bech got another injury (concussion I think) that put he behind again and with Nabers, Boutte, BTJ and Jenkins starting to get on track he never got much of a shot again.
Honestly, who would LSU sub out to give Bech more reps? It's just numbers. I think Hilton is very talented and I wouldn't be shocked if he goes too. We are going to lose talented WRs over the years simply due to depth.

Drops and fumbles were the end of his career here, he doesnt have the chest.

Not hard, he needs playtime to develop for NFL and big cash. There are more talented receivers infront of him next year. He is running out of time to get touches. Goes somewhere else.

Maybe he was encouraged to leave

Bech is excellent at improvising routes and finding open gaps. When your QB cant find open receivers in the routes he knows theyre running, he sure isnt going to find Bech.
He's also an excellent utility player/jack of all trades, but when you fill the gaps in your offense with elite specialized talent, it's hard to justify starting him.
Edit: He also could have out his name in the portal to test the waters to see what else is out there. This may or may not be true but I could see that being true for alot of players. He's not one of those guys that enters the transfer portal because he's not a team player and doesnt like the staff. I'd be willing to bet BK would take him back in a heartbeat.

Wants chance to play for CFP championship.

Sub zero percent chance this is what happened. He is tight with a few a of the QBs and had a very good freshman year. He was going to play a good bit this upcoming season even with Boutte returning (just less with Boutte returning). This was 100% his decision, coaches absolutely wanted him to stay.

Did you understand when Trey Quinn left?
I wish Bech the best of luck.

If he doesn’t want to be at LSU then I don’t want him at LSU. That’s what the portal is for…”free agency”. In the world of work, it’s the same concept. If someone doesn’t want to be working for an employer then they will never be productive, and they need to go in a different direction.
For these LSU kids in the portal, I wish them well, but don’t let the door hit you in the arse. The grass isn’t always greener elsewhere, and a lot of times it doesn’t work out for kids in the portal. Joe Burrow is a definite exception. Spencer Rattler at USCe is another.
