One word to describe CPM's team: Overrated.

I agree 100%. all these posters saying mid week games don't matter, nobody cares, the players don't care, etc, etc, are accepting losing to "inferior" teams on a pretty regular basis. we made 4 frigging errors tonight and our hitting STUNK. having runners on third twice in critical situation with less than 2 outs and not being able to score.

any criticism on this board and it's called a melt. bull shite. past LSU teams; teams that have won it all did not look so sloppy. sure, they lost some games, but this is becoming a habit. like the OP said, we better play better in SEC play.

Always.

This year's team will get bounced in a Super Regional away from the Box.

Buncha pumpers in this thead...... I've said years ago CPM will never win another Title at LSU...........I did have a tad of hope when AC was hired.......but we're back to Pre- AC.......NO OFFENSE and Paul screwing with the Pen.

Let's be honest fellas.......this isn't a top 10 team......the pen is WEAK......The batting is WEAK...........That doesn't equate to success long term.

Want to really get scared?............Look at the roster for next year........

Who would of thought coastal Carolina would have won the whole thing at this point last year? Point is if CC can get hot at the right time then why can't LSU. This team does need to improve but let's not pretend it's all over after losing one game.

Oh no! Fire Alleva and hire the UNO AD. Their Basketball team made it into the tourney and their Baseball team is 2-0 against us....... im kidding obviously.. On another note, this season will probably play out much like the last few seasons. LSU will be scrappy in SEC play, maybe go on a little rally marsupial run to finish the season and get a top 8 seed. After that they'll get knocked out of the tourney when the bats go cold.

Yes it sucks to lose to UNO. And I agree that the timely hitting needs to come around. But when someone says midweek games are meaningless, it's true. All that matters is how LSU does in the SEC. 2 losses to UNO aren't going to keep LSU from getting a national seed if they finish at the top of the SEC. That's a fact.

You people really need to realize mid week games are pretty meaningless.

Except for the fact that it looks shitty on your record to lose to these lower tier teams, to say nothing of the notion that it cant be building confidence.

The players don't really care

Then they need to carry their arse somewhere where this kind of thinking/motivation are tolerated.

and all the other teams are out to beat LSU

Well I would hope they try to win all their games...even against LSU.

This team is an enigma and needs to become much more consistent if they expect to contend for an SEC title.

In the end, the midweek losses really are meaningless. If they win the SEC, nobody will care about these losses. I am concerned about our hitting but that's the point of these midweek games, to see what you need to improve on.

I'm sure the players care but you can't blame them for not caring as much about a game against UNO as they will this weekend.

Teams like UNO and McNeese are in a different situation when they play LSU. A win can be the difference in making the tournament or not.

I'm not as confident about this team as I was a few weeks ago but if the timely hitting can come around, I think the pitching staff is good enough to finish at the top of the SEC.

This team could not afford to lose one of the first two games of a regional. Pitching depth not good enough to come through a losers bracket. Just not enough quality arms...

Seldom is a team as good as fan's expectations, and on the flip side when things go South are they as bad as fans say.

You know what to think. You think the same thing you thought last year after consistently losing mid-week games.

Disagree. The whole "mid-week games" are useless adage is weak. All games matter.

Exactly. It's not about losing midweek games only. It's reflective of leadership, attitude, and consistency. We are supposed to be a top 3-4 team. On paper , we are. It's very alarming that this team lacks the mental toughness to play its best during midweek games. The inconsistency and sleepwalking bit are signs of trouble. Those aren't things that championship teams do.

You can start by not thinking we have a national championship caliber team before the season starts every year.

So if LSU goes 22-8 and win the SEC, you think these losses could keep them from getting a national seed? The answer is no these losses won't make a difference a in the end.
